Top Local Tips for Buenos Aires

Lots to do in BA We had a free day and decided to go to the zoo. It is not something most tourists would choose, but I'm glad we went. For three people the admission was less than $10. There were lots of school children and not alot of tourists. There were many animals that you might not see in an American zoo and you can get very close to them. The victorian buildings were beautiful albeit a little run down.

Extreme Caution required from touch-down to take-off Buenos Aire is a dangerous crime-ridden city. There are thousands of police officers deployed all over the city to attempt to swing around a spiralling crime-wave against foreign tourists. Leave everything in your hotel room safe and venture out into the streets only with no handbags, no watches, no mobiles, no credit card or ATM cards just some dollars (small bills). If you are going shopping take 1 credit card but be prepared, ie have the credit card company number etc to hand in the hotel. Taxis are ridiculously cheap by international standards ie US$ 5 almost anywhere in the center. Better the taxis are well regulated and always put their meters on when you get in. One taxi driver warned us never to take a taxi that is not a yellow & black radio taxi - particularly at night where rogue "fake taxi drivers" pick up tourists to assault them inside the vehicles etc. Nice place really!

Cabana Las Lilas Superb dining experience, on the waterway in town. Reservations essential and don't hurry just enjoy good food and wine in a nice setting.
