Awesome Deal at a Prime Location

Currently, with the Euro being as strong as it has been, many Europeans are heading to Argentina, driving up prices. Although this hotel has very few ammenities, most rooms have private bathrooms, refrigerator, and are large and clean. The hotel staff is courteous and are willing to accomodate you as best as they can, especially if you want a room with a/c or that has a bathroom. When I went, a room ranged from 9USD to 15USD a night. This is a bargain, since most hotels with ammenities cost 80 to 150 USD, if not more. For the difference, you can splurge at a nice restaurant, go bar hopping or to an excursion.

This is an excellent choice if you are on a budget. The location is perfect. Subte very close and within easy walking distance of the Casa Rosada, Florida for shopping and Puerto Madera for riverside rambles. San Telmo is about 12-15 blocks away.
I have stayed there several times and on my last visit a sizeable room with attached bathroom, fan and daily maid service cost 28 pesos a night.
There some excellent breakfast cafes very close by and just round the corner on Ave. de Mayo is the Dark Bar which is always good for an interesting evening.
The staff will help you with phoning radio taxis, making reservations and directions to places you may want to visit.
Oh, and there's a very well stocked wine store right across the street.

Basic Budget Hotel in Great Location

This very baic Budget Hotel is off Av de Mayo and around the corner from the famous Cafe Tortoni. You can walk almost anywhere or take the Subte( subway).
There are no public areas, the lobby is tiny, just enough room for a couples of guests and their luggage.
The rooms are basic and small, the back on the lower floors tend to be dark. Some rooms have TV's. Some bathrooms have bidets and tubs, others have showers with no actual stalls, the drain is in the middle of the floor. takes a bit of getting use to.
The staff are very friendly and speak limited English. The rate for a room with a double room but no TV was $12.50usd per night, no breafast.
