Top Local Tips for Buenos Aires

Metro (Subway) (Subte) For newcomers to Buenos Aires I offer a small word of warning. All metro lines in the city are NOT air conditioned and is very hot and sticky even in late march when summer is supposedly over ! Ventilation is very poor and over-crowding frequent, so you may get the feeling that there is a lack of breathable air. Please bear this in mind when taking this form of transport and take a botlle of water with you. Also, make sure you are on the platform going in the direction you want BEFORE going through the ticket barriers. Once you are through you CANNOT change to the other side and have to buy a new ticket.

Getting to and from the international airport If you are in a group its cheaper to hire a remiss rather than get the airport bus. Its also quicker to go to the pre pay offices for the remiss/taxi than wait in the taxi queue outside the airport.

Wine shop extraordinaire Every visitor to BsAs should bring home some wonderful Argentinian wine. We came across an excellent shop online and arranged to meet the owner for help in selecting a few bottles to bring back. He caters to all price ranges, although the selection is skewed to the high end. He can ship it to your home, although shipping adds too much cost to a low end assortment.
