Top Local Tips for Wanaka

Canyoning! "Canyoning," (rapelling/abseiling) run by Deep Canyon in Wanaka, was the most fun we had on our entire trip. What a great trip of sliding and rapelling down waterfalls with the most beautiful scenery ever. Highly recommend.

The best time to tour the South Island We were told by many of the locals that March and April were the best months to tour the South Island. We were there for three weeks during March/April and only had two drizzly days. The weather was on the whole warm and very comfortable.

Walk alongside the lake There is an excellent walking and bike-riding track beside the lake. It's a must to do this.
