We visited in Jan 2009 for our 25th Anniversary for one night. It was to break up the trip between Queenstown and Franz Josef. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and we can excuse the view of the aircraft hanger from the Honeymoon suite. However we were discouraged from eating dinner as we where one of only 2 or 3 other stayers. The outside spa area was broken down and disused, with timber framing collapsing and temporary storage of garbage and barrels. All the washing machines were not not available due to being out-of-order and the laundry smelled a little.
We decided to leave early the next day and found that the one staff did not keep the office hours and was sleeping in. The night bell was turned off and we managed to leave around 9am and hour after office hours were supposed to start.
All in all simple maintenance and a better approach to service, would have made a world of difference, especially as their website states "West Coast hospitality". I suspect there is......
