Rarotonga has to be one of the world's best kept secrets. A tropical paradise with no crowds, friendly people and pristine beaches. Arriving at 2:00am in the morning our hosts Sue and Tom made sure we were picked up with the trip to Puaikura Reef only about 15 minutes away. In the morning a tropical breakfast was delivered to the room as part of the welcome, after that it was our first chance to see the surrounds in daylight. Puiakura Reef Lodge has well kept gardens and grounds and a lovely pool. We didn't use the pool much as the most pristine beach was right across the road. Most days we had it all to ourselves. Such clear water and an enormous amount of tropical fish so it was great for snorkelling. Sue has a background on the travel industry and it really showed. She was only to happy to organise motorcycle rental (the only way to get around in my opinion), tours and resturant recommendations. One suggestion Sue made was an Island night at the Staircase Bar in town, it was fantastic, food was great and the entertainment was provided by a local dance/drum troupe. We only had four days on Rarotonga as it was between business trips, but we will definitely return, next time I will spend more time doing nothing on the most perfect beach in the world. Highly recommended to all

We stayed at Puakura for a week in April when the new owners had been in operation for 3 months. The gardens were immaculate and the pool sparkelling blue every day. Sue and Tom are gradually refurbishing the units with fresh modern colour, art and furnishings. The lovely complimentary fruit basket kept us going for a few days and we enjoyed the use of the good quality snorkelling gear free to use. Much much more than expected. Will go again.
