This place had the strangest smell – it became stronger in the kitchen and laundry –very unpleasant. The rooms are very basic ie old picnic tables with plastic covers in the rooms, blocked toilets, dirty dirty rooms/bathrooms. There was sticky stuff all over the place like it hadn’t been wiped down EVER. Lots of rooms filled with old junk, including the old 3rd floor which looked like it had been partially demobilised – very unsafe. There are dogs in the parking lot and reception. I would not recommend this for elderly people as the whole place is like a trip hazard. I wouldn’t recommend people travelling with children stay for safety reasons.
For $100 a night, you could get a nice private room in a hostel and have change left over.

The Capricornia is great budget accomodation. The owners were incredibley friendly and helpful, knowing all of the good spots to visit in Darwin. The motel although dated is extreemly clean, the beds are comfortable and salt water pool is large and refreshing. The motel is centrally located in Darwin to almost anything. A great place to stay in Darwin when you are travelling on a budget.
