| We made reservations two months in advance for 3 rooms for 6 nights. Called hotel several days before arrival to reconfirm. Arrived late in the evening after a full day of travel. Next day hotel began completely replacing carpet throughout in every room and all public places. We had never been advised of this at any time. Returning from lunch that day found our hall full of mattresses and furniture. We asked to be moved to another room on another floor. This operation went on all weekend all day long with much hammering, moving of heavy furniture and other noise. We complained several times to the front desk and were advised that no allowance in room rates was being given for any inconvenience. The afternoon before we left the manager finally came to our room. She said she had been away for the weekend. We expressed that for the safety and comfort of occupants, the hotel should have been closed during this renovation. We asked to have our rooms comped as we were never notified this would be happening even though we made our reservations months ago. The next morning at 7:30 am the owner knocked on our door. In a loud angry voice she berated us for about 10 minutes. She asked why we hadn't left the hotel if this was unpleasant to us. She criticized us for saying anything to the employees at the front desk. She never apologized or acknowledged that there was any justification for our displeasure. She told us we were not welcome back. Our conclusion; she's in the business of selling rooms by the night, not the hospitality business. Stay there at your own risk. |
