Top Local Tips for Tacoma

Seattle PIKES Market was a lot of fun. Lots to see. Great food. Take a ferry trip and get a great view of the entire skyline. ($6-7 round trip) Be on the lookout for Mt. Rainier on clear days, it's absolutely stunning, breath taking, majestic, intoxicating....etc! The Foss Waterway in Tacoma is nice, lots of great restaurants and views. Nice walking area.

Nightlife in Tacoma is vibrant, but nowhwere near the hotels If you're coming from out of town and visiting Tacoma, you'll probably end up staying either downtown, out in the south end, or possibly at the Silver Cloud on Ruston Way. You'd likely get the impression that Tacoma has no nightlife. But don't be fooled, it actually has a fair amount. The unfortunate catch is that it's not near the hotels. The primary locations for nightlife in Tacoma right now are at the north(west) end of downtown around Pacific Avenue, and up the hill on 6th Avenue. You'll likely need a car or cab for both. Tell the cabbie you're going to Paddy's for downtown, or Chopstix for 6th Ave. Regardless of whether these will be where you actually choose to grab a drink, they are both surrounded by numerous other establishments that have ample character and entertainment. If you're staying at the Murano, start the night off in their bar on the top floor and watch the sunset, then move on to somewhere less expensive.
