Excellent, ambient place for lovers

Wow, great place. Beautifuly restored 1899 building, with rooms that boast high ceilings, double-hung windows, soft beds, warm lighting, quiet,and a discreet, courteous staff. Located in the rapidly-developing arts district of downtown Spokane, the Montvale is reminiscient of the great hotels of the 1930's (only a little smaller). Made us feel like Bogey and Bacall. We loved it, and so will you. By the way, don't miss the Catacombs Pub, located in the basement.

What a nice place - glad to have found it - something different. Comfortable beds and a very cool underground restaurant - Catacombs!

Top Local Tips for Spokane
Restaurant downstairs (Catacombs) We ate at the restaurant downstairs from our hotel -- The Montvale. It was convenient had prompt service and was interesting location in the basement of the hotel . My wife and I ordered Calzones. Both could have been hotter, but the portions were huge and we could not finish our meals so we took doggy boxes.
River Walk is Outstanding We took a just before sunset walk along the river front park in Spokane. It is outstanding and serves as a real inspiration for other cities with a less than as well developed river front park. Congratulations to Spokane for investing in such a beautiful, wild and artistic waterfront trail.
