Getting Around If you are intending to visit downtown Seattle, plan on parking your car and walking or using public transportation. Most of the downtown attractions are only a few blocks apart. The best way to see the city is on foot, but if you are allergic to exercise you can take advantage of the Free Ride Zone (the Metro is free downtown from Jackson Street to Battery during the day). The Free Ride Zone encompasses Pike Street Market, Pioneer Square, the Aquarium, Wharf, and most of the downtown shopping, etc. The Free Ride Zone doesn't include the Seattle Science Center or the Space Needle, but you can get a $4 round trip (or $2 one-way) ticket for the Monorail that will take you to the Space Needle from downtown (it leaves every 10 minutes).

hotels in Seattle We stayed in Seattle last year and found that parking at the hotel was $25 each night as well as tipping the valet each time we left the car or picked it up. We decided this year to stay in nearby Bellevue which was a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Seattle. Our Embassy Suite hotel offered a full hot breakfast every morning and evening drinks and snacks for free. The floor we stayed on also had fresh fruit and other snacks and free starbucks coffee every day as we exited the elevator. The room was large and it was very nice to have a kitchen area as well as separate living area.
