Lovely suite and great staff!

I took my daughter in law and her best friend ( from Vancouver BC) for a girls getaway for her 30th. The place was perfect for us....just like home! It was spacious and clean and had all the amenties we required.

The beauty of it all was a great breakfast that was made for us by very pleasant and helpful staff.

Highly recommend it.

Fabulous spot in the U District

A warm, comfortable, elegant, and comfortable spot on a hill, with a variety of room configurations, delicious breakfasts, and a variety of amenities (including internet access, snacks, games, and more). Hosts are friendly and accessible. Convenient to U district, downtown, and beyond.

Chambered Nautilus in June

Our party of five enjoyed a short but pleasant stay at the B&B which is situated on a hill so don't bring too much luggage to lug up and down. Breakfast is at 8 or 9am and service may slow a bit if everyone chooses the 9am seating. TV in suite is small but adequate. Bathroom amenities were nice although adding a bottle of lotion would be nice. Location is convenient to I-5 and downtown Seattle. Kitchen in suite is good for families. The grounds are well maintained. Internet access is a nice touch for those who want to stay connected.

The discerning traveller should not go past The Chambered Nautilus and the wonderful hospitality of the delightful host, Joyce Schultz. I can report on a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed long stay in the suites and also in the main Georgian home. Nothing is spared to make the visit enjoyable from the elegant touches in the room with lovely furnishings, luxurious bed coverings, breakfasts, and little touches such as the books, CDs, and videos generously left for guest use in the suites. The University of Washington district location of the establishment is beautiful with lovely old buildings, walking and jogging tracks through parkland, walk to the University, amazing shopping for those so inclined, and transport into the city for the Space Needle experience, the Markets, and the Music Project phenomenon, amongst the many attractions. Lastly, The Chambered Nautilus attracts very interesting new comers and regulars who make great breakfast companions. This was a surprise for one who stumbles to breakfast still asleep each morning to so much enjoy the stories and comfortable repartee of companion guests.

Great Place

We went from Vancouver, BC on a last minute idea in February 2005, they had room; the rooms were very nice with antiques and not much wasn't thought of. From afternoon tea and cookies when you arrive for your use on a beautiful sideboard. A roaring fireplace, a computer hooked up to the net for your use, with a printer. Our bathroom was not directly in our room, but still was great, nothing was missed again either, from hand made soap to shampoo/cond. Clean and friendly staff, and the breakie was also wonderful! Resturant we visited for dinner was the Union Bay Cafe, great food, not cheep, if you ask for a proper red wine glass you will get one otherwise the standard small glass.

Overall a great trip in otherwise wet weather.

It was such a pleasure to come home at the end of every busy day and to open the front door and walk into our home away from home. Knowing that there was a comfortable bed with warm cozy covers waiting for us made walking up and down the hills of Seattle easy. And then add to that the great breakfasts and good company of the other guests, and you have the makings of a great vacation. We truely loved our visit and will surely come back!

We had the most wonderful time at the Chambered Nautilus Bed and Breakfast Inn this past November 6th. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed so much the fresh organic breakfast and the people we met around the table. We will indeed pass the word about your comfortable relaxing beautiful establishment.

Home, a long way from home

The inn and the staff made my trip to Seattle, one of the best experiences of my life.

I, as a foreigner, was immediately put at my ease and welcomed as a member of a very friendly household.

It did not matter how many questions I had for them, they were always patient and knowledgeable. Their bus information was especially useful for a non-driver.

They even had wireless internet access (via DSL), which worked perfectly.

The size of the breakfasts meant I never had lunch once in 11 days and the beds were so comfy, I nearly missed breakfast a few times !!

Warm Cozy Fireplace

I stayed at the Chambered Nautilus for an evening away (10-27). After reading all the reviews, I had to give this place a try. The staff was great. Stayed in the Crow's Nest which has the fireplace, and I wanted to leave it on all night, but it threw off more heat than I thought it would. Very very cozy and relaxing. Breakfast in the morning was original and fantastic.

When I arrived for the evening, I looked up at my room window and realized the Chambered Nautilus is the spitting image of a famous house in Long Island, NY. That added a bit of a twist, especially for this time of year.

Top Local Tips for Seattle

you may want to use a car It seems like everyone in Seattle either walks or rides a bike. This is great for their health and for the environment, but if you're not used to some of the rolling hills or just not used to walking so much, then you might think about renting a car. We had a rental car when we were there and we used it everyday to get around. I'm sure if I put more effort into learning more about public transportation then we could've done that instead, but if you're not wiling to do the work then just get a car.

Best restaurants for a Northwest experience Seattle has some great restaurants for those who love good wine and imaginative food. Consistent favorites include Eva, Pair, and Serafina. The food at these restaurants are European/Northwest. The atmosphere at each of these restaurants is romantic, friendly, and relaxed.

Go! Card Pick up a Go! Seattle card before you head to town. If you have a few days to do "touristy" stuff, it will pay for itself. Avoid the Market on busy weekends when it's body-to-body people with nowhere to go and no time to stop and take in the sights, smells, and sounds (other than chaos).
