We have stayed at many upscale hotels and with a credit card of course have never been asked for an ID, and certainly have not had to give one for the entire family. We did look at the rooms, it looked as if someone had slept there a few nights already, no sheets changed, shower was dirty, smelled of cigarette smoke, we requested non-smoking. When we returned to the desk to tell her, it wasn't up to our standards, she was busy with two clients, one was intoxicated. She gave him a room, he paid cash, she did not ask for ID. So here we are with our 4 children, not wanting to stay. I asked her again why those people did not need ID. She stated, "They were regulars" I stated I still didn't understand why she needed to copy our ID's, she said the police required it because it is such a high crime area. We told her we would not be staying. She said, you know I can charge you for the room? I asked are you going to? She said it was up to the management. She said, I do have your credit card information, she was rude, said we can charge you for all 5 days if we want, you can't do anything about it. We called the police, we sat waiting for 1 1/2 hours for them to come, we wanted her to give us the copies of our credit card numbers back. There wasn't anything they could do. We attempted to call the manager over the next three days, no one was ever there who was a "manager". So far we have been charged for two nights, $110 per rooms we did not stay in. It was on our debit credit card, so we can not get the money back. They have to agree to refund it, and they refuse. Lesson learned, only use discover for booking a hotel, they will fight for you. I would not put my family in jeopardy for a hotel room. I am not exaggerating this at all. There were hookers everywhere. The police told us, it is not safe any where on Aurora. We had at least 15 police cruisers spin by us when we were waiting. Keep your family safe do not stay here. There are three motels I would recommend. Downtown Seattle, the Mediterrain, the Inn at Queen Anne, or the Best Western. Best of luck and Happy Travels.
