This is the hotel we keep coming back to in the Williamsburg area. It's close to the historic area, and affordable. I just really like it.

Great place for the price

Based on the good reviews here, my family of four spent 4 nights at the Lord Paget in April. We all thought it was clean and comfortable and the grounds were lovely. Kids loved the ducks - glad to hear there are some offspring around now.

The breakfast was a great value, we all filled our tummies quite well every morning.

If we journey to Williamsburg again, we'll defnitely be looking for a room at the Lord Paget.

Great value, family-friendly

My family and I recently stayed here based on previous reviews of this property. This hotel was everything we expected and more! I was aware it was not a newly remodeled facility, and was skeptical upon pulling into the parking lot. But then I entered the clean, formal lobby and was greeted by their very friendly (and helpful!) staff. We drove back on the property towards our room and passed a darling coffee shop and beautifully landscaped courtyard, pool, and putting green. We also saw the locals (ducks) and their children. The room was large and clean with nice furnishings, and they offer the best continental breakfast I have yet to encounter. This motel is a true gem and is an exceptional value.

If you want new and perfect, this is not for you. This is a charming older motor court on a lake. Beautiful landscaping and brick buildings, nice pool, nice breakfast room/coffee shop. Polite staff and fellow visitors. The rooms have a pleasant and eclectic mix of colonial-style furnishings and relics from the 60's and 70's. You feel more like you are staying at an older person's home vs a sterile new hotel. Our bath had the original pink tile (yes, pink), but it certainly wasn't a problem. Real closets with doors, wide mouldings, nice mattresses. We discovered a mother duck with at least 12 tiny brand new babies while we were at breakfast. This is a great place to bring the entire family at a great price.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and would highly recommened this motel. We requested a room overlooking the lake and were not disappointed. The room was extremely secluded/quite. The patio is a nice place to enjoy the pretty view! Although the ducks/geese are a little agressive. The room was clean and spacious. For the price (we paid $80 per night), you can't beat it; especially considering the continental breakfast! The food choices are numerous and the dining area is nice. The motel is also extremely close the Colonial Williamsburg area and is a very short drive to the outlet shopping.

Me and my husband have stayed at Lord Paget two times and have a 3rd stay booked. The motel is very nice, quiet and quaint. It is near everything but just enough out of the way. The rooms are older as most motels in Williamsburg but alot cleaner and nicer than most. We love the cute little building that houses the continental breakfast and have eaten there at both stays. We will be staying here often since we now have Busch Gardens season passports. The prices there are great and just in our budget.

I am so glad that I read the previous reviews here about the Lord Paget. I took your advice and we really enjoyed ourselves. The motel was so peaceful and quiet. It is away from all the "busy-ness" of Williamsburg, and yet it is a quick easy drive to the Visitors Center. Check-in and Check-out was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable. Other than the neighboring door closing, we could not hear anything outside our room -- we did not hear the TV in the next room, people talking outside, nothing. It was wonderfully quiet. Our bed was comfortable (and they put real fitted bottom sheets on the beds!) and our room was spacious enough. There was no hair dryer in the room, but one was given to me at the office. The pond was a wonderful place to sit in the morning. The ducks and geese were quite entertaining. Hot fresh coffee was always available in the Coffee Shop. The continental breakfast was what I expected -- cereal, fruit, toast, bagels, waffles, English muffins, biscuits, muffins, pastries, and juices -- and was abundant. The grounds were nicely landscaped with flowers and trees. The parking lot was clean and well maintained. If we ever return to Williamsburg again, there is no doubt about where we will stay. We are recommending the Lord Paget to everyone we can.

Cozy, Beautiful, Nice Stay, Good Price

This was a wonderful motel and the prices are very reasonable. It combines the colonial styles of Williamsburg with a touch of the south.
The rooms were comfortable and spacious (no complaints there). The room where I stayed in had a small porch with a little table and you walk out there and there is a pond with ducks and geese and a little dock.
It was truly magnificent, especially on a nice day or in the morning.
Although it was too cold to swim and the pool hadn’t been opened, it was fairly good-sized and very quaint. The breakfasts were gloriously served in a little building close to the rooms. It had everything you’d want from donuts to cereal; this was all free of charge. There was ample room for parking and overall it was a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this cozy motel near colonial Williamsburg. I stayed at a few places through out Virginia and even in Washington DC, I have to say that the Lord Pageant Inn was my favorite.

Home Away From Home for 30 Years

My husband and I have been visiting Williamsburg for nearly 30 years and have stayed at the Lord Paget almost everytime. It has always been clean, comfortable, convenient to attractions and the staff are like family to us. We highly recommend this place to everyone who asks us where to stay in Williamsburg. Very disapointed

We booked 2 rooms in October 2003, based on the good ratings on this site, but were very disappointed in the rooms. The first room must have been flooded recently and the mildew/musty smell was so strong thatt we requested another room. The new room was better, but still a slight musty smell. Both rooms had old bathrooms whose showers were very dark and had mildew growing in them. The management was very friendly, but no one was sent to clean the shower when requested. We didn't want to spend our 2 vacation days changing rooms and didn't expect to find any better conditions, so we stayed put. The breakfact buffet was quite good.

A nice stay ...

I travel to Williamsburg often, and decided to give this place a try ... I talked to two couples who have been coming here over 30 years each! The motel is like coming back to your parent's home ... the room is dated, but very clean. It's like "mom" went and put money into a new spread and curtains, but a remodel job was not in the budget. However, all you need is a place to sleep and shower as Williamsburg has too much going on to miss a moment of it. Enjoyed the stay and would likely stay again!

eat at sal's and visit edwards ham shoppe sal's has great italian food and you can get 10 percent off with coupons found in the travel booklets or given to you at your hotel. edwards ham shoppe has quick tasty sandwiches and the candy/crunchy peanuts are yummy! careful they are addictive!

go Kart place was cool If you arrive late afternoon, and the kids are bugging you, take them to the EZ Go Kart place out on Rt 60/Richmond Ave. We have an 8. 12 & 14 year old and all 3 loved it...a rare thing. We went ther from about 7-9 and then had no problem getting a quick seating for a late dinner. By the time we hit the room, the were ready to fall asleep and hit Busch Gardens bright and early the next day.

Watch where you stay Maybe it's just me, but I've had terrible experiences with 5 hotels on 3 different visits over the past few years. I've pretty much given up on all sub $100 hotels in Williamsburg and I'd advise everyone to spend the extra $20-30 to have an enjoyable stay. This is the kind of town that doesnt care about customer satisfaction, with such a huge tourist base, they can treat people horribly and have 50 more lined up behind them waiting for a room in thier place.
