Historical Traveller Reviews of Marriott Manor Club Hotel
Nice accommodations, poor service!
from TravelingClaytonThe only negative was the staff. The employee who checked us in was completely disinterested. He seemed bothered by our questions about local sights, and his shirt was hanging over his pants under his vest. Also, the lady in the shop was bored and wanted to make sure we could see how bored she was. We wanted to ask questions one morning at the "concierge" desk, but there was only one employee and she was too busy helping someone on the phone for a long time. There were two couples waiting in front of us so we simply moved on.
Wonderful
from A TripAdvisor MemberVery nice, but not the best

from MarcJordanI didn't find the units to be luxurious. They are very comfortable but not, in my opinion, up to Marriott Vacation Club standards. The item that bothered me the most was the master bedroom mattress. It was incredibly thin and soft. It must have been half the thickness as a normal king. My other complaint was the convertible sofabed. It was not a queen, as is published, sagged in the middle and the springs were quite noticeable while lying down. Lastly, when will Marriott ever stock the kitchens with non-stick pans? It was a chore to clean up even a simple egg breakfast from the old style pans.
Other than these items we had a very enjoyable time. While Ford's Colony is off the beaten path, it's only a 10 minute drive to the "main strip" for shopping and dining. The facilities are good, nice pool, plenty of tennis and of course, the golf course. The setting was also quite good. The buildings are either set against woods or the golf course.
I would recommend this property to anyone and would also consider checking in again when I'm in the neighborhood.
s Colony, Top Notch Resort
from A TripAdvisor MemberNice resort
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe stayed in a 2-bedroom villa that had a whirlpool, fireplace and believe it or not, enclosed deck. The bedding was comfortable and the attention we received by staff was excellent. The only downside was that it was difficult obtaining a burger on after 8:00PM.
We liked Ford Colony so much that we booked the resort again for Columbus day weekend. Hope this helps your decision process.
Happy vacationing.
Very Nice Rooms
from CarolinaMattWe arrived at night the first night, and found the roads leading up to the resort to be in atrocious condition and poorly lit with few signs. The parking lot was small and tight. The grounds around the buildings were not very well lit (gave a spooky feeling, and a feeling of security risk).
I found the front-desk staff to be a notch or two below a typical Marriott. They did not have my paperwork ready upon arrival, and had to hand-write it. The front desk service upon check-in was subpar. I expect better at a Marriott, especially one where I am paying $243 a night. I also asked for a late check-out (called late Sat night) and was told I would have to personally arrange it through housekeeping. Isn't that the front-desk job? It was told to me in a rather incredulous tone of voice. It put me off. The staff seemed unprepared to perform their duties regardless of when I had contact with them.
I also thought that shutting down the pool and the store at 10PM was too early. This is supposed to be a resort catering to guests. Since Busch Gardens closes at 10PM, you would think the pool and store would stay open later.
The pool was very nice. The kids really liked it. The hot tub was very nice as well.
The tv in the master bedroom was fuzzy, and they didn't leave coffee supplies for the second day.
I liked the resort, but didn't feel the service level was up to Marriott levels. I would have mixed feelings about staying there again. It wasn't so much the room, but the poor surroundings - the poor road (with few lights or direction signs), small parking lot, poorly lit grounds. Combine that with poor front desk service and it just doesn't overcome how nice the room was. If you are primarily interested in a nice room, stay there (but arrive during the day and have a 4 wheel drive SUV). If you want a typical Marriott service level, stay somewhere else.
A Very Nice Stay
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe had a 2 bedroom condo they were clean, nicely decorated and big. The beds were very comfortable.
There is a very nice supermarket one exit off RT. 199, Also there was a Target Store there and a lot of other stores. Just in case you forgot something.
They have a great game room, my 15 yr. old son loved the pool tables. Also have a lot of activities all day long for the family at the resort. We didn't take advantage of that, we did the sight seeing at Colonial Williamsburg and James-port make sure you go to James-port that was more interesting and informative then Williamsburg. Then of course we went to Bush Gardens. That is my favorite amusement park, better then Disney. It has such charm. The food there was great.
Well I hope this helps.
P.S. There was another review about phone rates it is true $7.00 a min long distance.
Great Vacation Hideaway

Value Pack Make sure you check out the value packs for Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. You can save a good amount of money by buying a value pack.
Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown are not stroller friendly! Have a paved sidewalk at each location, it was hard to push the stroller around oyester shelled walk ways and pebbles etc.
Off the beaten path great food Adjacent to the College of William and Mary football stadium, you will find three great places to eat: The College Delly, Paul's Deli, and the Greene Leaf. The first two are reknowned for their Greek specialties and subs and the Green Leaf is well, a great place to go for a drink and some good food.
