Stayed at this Country Inn and Suites on Bypass Rd. Very clean and spacious rooms. Fireplace in lobby with coffee at night on a cold winter night was very cozy. Staff was very warm and friendly. Pool was heated and clean. Will return to this hotel in a heartbeat!!!

Decent place to stay

from The_Walkers
My family and I stayed at this location for a total of four nights. The staff was very friendly and very helpful with any questions that we had. We did have an experience of a very large spider in our room on our first night which made for a restless night sleep. No fault of the hotel in anyway. My husband killed it and disposed of it. The pool was a bit cool for an indoor pool and the hot tub could have used a cleaning. The breakfast that was offered was good, although the dining area was a bit small. In order to get a seat you have to be there at the beginning of the breakfast hour. My children loved the fact that there were free cookies at the front desk. If we were to ever visit this area again and received the same price we would stay at this location.

WHIRLPOOL

from nahcurtis
We just returned from our trip to Williamsburg and I was so disgusted with our hotel that I had to let people know what to watch out for.

First of all, there was mold and mildew all around the tub and shower area.

The pool was totally disgusting. My daughter went swimming, while my husband was in the hot tub. My daughter advised me there was dirt in the pool, my husband and I both checked it out. It was not dirt it was poop!!! We advised the manager and he closed the pool. The pool was reopened the next day, however, we did not go swimming.

The next day my husband noticed in the pool that there was black scum around the wall and someone had written in it. Also, there was scum floating in the hot tub. Which told us that they had not really cleaned the pool after the feces in the pool incident. TOTALLY DISGUSTING!!!! He advised management who said they would take care of it.

The next day the area where the writing was in the pool had only been cleaned but their was still pool scum around the rest of the pool and the hot tub was extra foamy.

The breakfast bar was good, but the area was small and was not air conditioned. I think they kept it warm on purpose, so you did not stay long, as the area was small.

As a matter of your personal health, I would not stay at this hotel.

a little noisy

Need to have hallway security all through the night. kids running up and down the halls and doors slamming. On a Monday night.
hotel was clean and staff was friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay here

from LVAnderson
Our two queen beds were comfortable and the room was clean and nice. My wife and kids loved the breakfast as it was good quality food and was served all the way till 10:00. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, even staying up to check us in at 2:00 AM. Only knock on the place was the broken a/c (which was fixed after our first night) and that the bathroom fan didn't work (never was fixed). Also, someone was always smoking in the hallway of our nonsmoking floor. Not really a hotel problem more than a guest problem but it was consistent over our 3 day stay so maybe it's an employee??

Great Place

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent two nights at the Country Inn. The lobby
is very inviting, the room was clean, decent sized,
& the two queen beds were very comfortable. The
breakfast bar was good. Their 24hr. coffee and
cookies were excellent, and a nice touch. The
entire staff was friendly and very helpful. The
only problem we had was the pool was on the "cool"
side and the hot tub needed more cleanings. The
location was fantastic. I would consider staying
there again.

t Do It

from Chryscenthia
This place is not at all as it is wriien up on travel service web sites. Hot breakfast? Really continental breakfast with biscuits and gravy. Air conditioning/heater turned off from the master panel even though it was 28 degrees f outside. Queen size beds? Not. Full. No elevator when we arrived and no one to help me to the third floor with my baggage and that of my two small children. Not worth it for the money. We left after one night, moved to a different hotel and saved $35 and received a better breakfast...

Roach Infested

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in Oct. 2005. Short story is our room was infested with roaches. Management said they were waterbugs and refused to address the situation at all. I have worked in the food service industry for twenty years, so sadly I know what roaches look like. My wife was horrified at the prospect of bringing these filthy creatures home with us and it ruined our vacation. As an additional FYI the pool is shabby and the continental breakfast leaves alot to be desired. Dont forget to pack the RAID!

Adequate for the price, however......

from Pudge
Stayed at the Country Inn and Suites the first week of October 2005. Myself and my wife stayed here for 5 nights. Got a great rate of $62.50 per night for 2 double beds. For this rate, it was perfectly acceptable, however, if I had paid more than $79 per night I would have gone elsewhere and gave this review a two instead of a three. I requested a non smoking room on the third floor and my room was clean and smelled fine. The problem that I had with this hotel was the public areas. The elevator smelled of vomit and the elevator carpet looked dirty. The smell was present throughtout our entire stay, so we walked up and down the stairwells during our stay. The hotel then stored a very large trash container in the one stairwell and the whole stairwell stunk of garbage. It had no trash in it, but had all of the residue caked on the sides and bottom of the container. Why this was stored inside the hotel is beyond me? The whole first floor smelled musty and damp and I am not sure if the pool was causing this. The pool was listed as heated, but was very cold. The hot tub had dirt lying on the bottom and when the jets were started up, some of the foam would actually turn black. I don't think this was cleaned for a long while. The public rest room in the pool area was dirty, and the one on the first floor did not have any paper towels to dry your hands off for the last two days we were there. The free breakfast was OK and had all of the basics. I have stayed at other Country Inn and Suites that were in much better shape. This one is a few notches below the others, but as I said earlier, for $62.50 per night it was perfectly acceptable.

Not Impressed

from alstrooper
I have stayed at other Country Inn & Suites and had certain expectations which were not met. This Country Inn was worn down and had a very used feeling to it. The carpet, walls, drapes, bath, etc. all had various marks. The sheets, blankets, pillows were not in good shape. And it was so hard to get a couple extra pillows! Credit goes to the staff for trying their hardest. The quality of the breakfast buffet was the worst I have experienced at a Country Inn. Very mediocore fare. On the positive side, the beds were pretty comfortable. Despite that, we do not plan to return.

enjoyed our stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
We went to Williamsburg the first week in August. I was with my 2 sons 8 and 11 and my parents. The hotel was very nice. I paid 89.00 a night for a room with 2 queen beds and a fridge. The rooms and the hotel itself were very clean. They have an indoor pool and a hot tub. They provided a free continental breakfast which was adequate.
We would definitely stay here again.

Top Local Tips for Williamsburg

Best Italian Food Loved dinner at Sal's Italian restaurant on Richmond Road. Food and pizza were great. Fun, family atmosphere.

Williamsburg Winery and Waller Mill Park Take the tour, sample great wines, see the stellar facility, and receive a free WW glass at the end of the tour. Run through Waller Mill Park ... very serene and quiet. A good place for trail running.

Colonial Williamsburg Overrated/Priced Visit the old, downtown section of Williamsburg for free. Paying $99 for a family of four to get into Colonial Williamsburg was a waste of money. The kids were bored, my wife was not impressed... just was not worth it.
