Top Local Tips for Virginia Beach

Great Pancakes at a place only a tourist town could come up with. One of the best parts of going on a vacation is finding independent non national chain places to eat. Finding a unique place that also serves some good food can be hard to find. When it comes to independent unique places to eat there are some things that only tourist towns can pull off (or attempt to pull off) Pocahontas Pancake and Waffle Shop is one of them. Located on 35th Street & Atlantic Ave in VA Beach it’s a great place to get a great breakfast when staying on the beach front. Theme and Decoration Let’s start with the decorating. The entire theme is centered around Pocahontas. This includes every cheesy looking Indian replicated artifact that the owners could find. Authentic it is not but classic American tourism in a classic American summer tourism town it is. The restaurant even has its inside wall painted as a mural depicting Pocahontas and early American settlers. Honestly you could spend your entire time looking at everything and being entertained. It’s hard to tell if the owners know that their shrine to Pocahontas is way to over the top or if they think they are truly putting together a well executed themed restaurant. Food The restaurant may not know decorating (or maybe they do because I couldn’t look away) but they sure know breakfast. The pecan pancakes were fantastic. You will not be disappointed. Everyone around seemed to really be enjoying what they had ordered and were completely full. According to a waitress they strive to never leave you hungry and so they always serve large portions. The butter on top of the pancakes is probably put on with an ice cream scoop. If you like butter run to this restaurant. Service The service was fast and friendly. They did a great job refilling drinks, getting the food out and taking orders. You also have to love the fact that the restaurant has this Indian American, early explorer, Pocahontas theme and then the entire restaurant staff wears different bright neon colored shirts with their restaurant logo on it. For me that just sealed the deal and made everything so funny that it was a ton of fun. Bottom Line For some great pancakes, interesting decorations, friendly service all under the theme of Pocahontas head on over to the Pocahontas Pancake and Waffle Shop.

Rental 4 Person Bike! I do recommend renting a 2 or 4 person buggy. You can't miss them, they are all over the beach. You will have a blast!
