Nice Place

This is a nice hotel, on the beach, on the boardwalk, convenient to all the Virginia Beach attractions. Stayed there from 28-31 August, 2005. This was a great week to stay with minimal crowds.
Hotel was very clean, nice rooms, and good breakfast. Internet access throughout the hotel via wireless. Good value compared to many of the other hotels on the beach.
My only complaint is not with the hotel but with the vendor that supplies beach chairs and umbrellas for all of Virginia Beach. Very expensive ($30/day for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella, regardless of when you go down to the beach.) One day, they didn't even bother to set up because the morning had a couple of showers.

Really great place to stay

We stayed for five days total (we extended a day because we were having so much fun). My young children particularly enjoyed the pool. The adjoining hottub was relaxing for the adults. The beach was large and a lifeguard is at the hotel access point. The Fairfield is located right in the middle of the Virginia Beach action, with great places to eat, shop, and entertain within blocks. The pizza across the street is fantastic, and the gyros at the shop next door were awesome. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful (although I did have trouble with making a reservation directly with the hotel... definitely use the 800 number). There is a computer in the lobby, they could use more given the number of teens doing IM. The breakfast was great and always stocked and clean (compare this with our trip to a buffet at a restaurant that ran over $50... granted it was better, but the free brek at the hotel was good enough for me). No safe in the room... could have used one for better security with valuables while on the beach.

Great hotel

This is a great hotel to stay in. It's right on the boardwalk and, of course, the beach is right outside the hotel. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful-any where from where to eat to what attractions we should see. The hotel was very clean, elevators where quick and the breakfast was wonderful.
I saw a bad review about this hotel and I agree with another writer, that he must have this hotel confused with another, because it wasn't even remotely like he said.
I would definitely stay there again and again.

Great vacation spot

Great hotel for a beach vacation. Every room is ocean front with a balcony.

Good security on beach side- need key card to access hotel. Breakfast buffet which is included was wonderful- lots of choices. My husband & I stayed here for a family wedding. Definitely recommend for families- easy breakfast, inside pool, fridge in room, walk right out to boardwalk and beaches. Close to small amusement park and restaurants. Va. Beach is very clean and security is great!

Great Place!

This hotel is a great. Clean, Great food (the comp breakfast in the morning is awesome and a savings when you have 4 people to feed!). It is in the heart of everthing! You will not have to get back in your car until you leave! Stores, restaraunts are all within walking distance. You are not making a mistake by choosing this hotel ...

Great beachfront value

This hotel is an excellent value for your money. We received an oceanfront room in August at a new hotel, including continental breakfast, for less than $200 a night. The hotel was clean and what you would expect from a Fairfield by Marriott. All the rooms have balconies and face the ocean. We were able to see the ocean from our bed. The continental breakfast was crowded, but they did a good job of keeping it well stocked. My husband and I are very picky about where we stay and were a little nervous about staying at a Fairfield Marriott as opposed to a full-fledged Marriott. However, the beachfront location, newness, and value of this hotel did not disappoint us.

Great Stay!

My family had a double room and a suite during the week of the 25th. Everything was wonderful. The breakfast each morning was a great bonus. Everyone we came in contact with from Amber at the front desk, to he maids, to the "towel man" at the pool, to the ladies who fixed breakfast each morning were very pleasant and friendly! Very clean, which seems to be a problem at other hotels in VB. My husband and kids enjoyed the baked cookies and coffee in the lobby each day, free of course!

The only 2 reasons I did not give this motel the excellent rating is the following: There is no shower to rinse off yourself or your things before entering the hotel from the beach. There is a small spicket which usually has a long line besisde it to use it, therefore, everyone uses the indoor pool to rinse off. This goes against everything I have ever been taught but I found myself doing it as well as everyone else, not much choice! Maybe they will put a shower in after replacing enough pool pumps. Also during our 5 day stay 1 elevator broke 3 times. We were on the 9th floor, so we didn't feel like taking the steps so had to wait alot. I think they need a new elevator repair man! One more small thing to note, our last morning at breakfast we noticed a man that did not seem to belong, going through the buffett line 4 times filling his pockets and leaving the building by the back door near the boardwalk, with loads of food each time. After the fourth trip my husband inquired at the front desk, nearby the buffett. Immediatly a man went looking for him outside and found him on the boardwalk eating with 2 other men, all were homeless. I really feel bad for hungry, homeless people and would have gladly shared but it is scarey to think my kids had been going to the pool ahead of me all week when people like this are raoming about the hotel. They definatly need to take care of this problem. So the next time you hold the door for someone, think about who they may be!( you have to swipe your room card to enter the building, but people were just letting him in)

Also the sofa bed in the suite is a twin. Was expecting a double.
I would definatly stay here again, a little pricey but worth it!

Wonderful staff

My husband and I just returned from Virginia Beach and to make a long story, short, we didn't like the first hotel we chose, so we decided to move. We had originally picked another Fairfield Inn away from the beach. Everyone at the Beach hotel was teriffic and did everytning they could to make us feel welcome. Changing hotels is never fun, ya know. The people at Marriott Home also bent over backwards for us. The rooms here are large and very comfortable and clean! I will go back there next time I visit Virginia Beach. Great stay. Beach is beautiful!

We stayed here for 5 days. Check in was smooth. Parking, no problem. Friendly staff. The view was beautiful. Continental breakfast was wonderful. We felt very safe in the area. All in all a wonderful time. Would definitely come back to this hotel.

A nice stay at the ocean

We chose this hotel because we knew that it was fairly new even though it looks old in the photos. It is a great choice for a stay in Virginia Beach. The parking garage is right next to the hotel. The hotel is clean and very attractive. Elevators are quick, and the view from the rooms is excellent. All rooms really do have a full ocean view. Room was clean and neat with a large bathroom. Room had a small refrigerator. We requested a non-smoking room and a roll away. I give this hotel only 4 of 5 stars because the room had previously had a smoker in it and we could get rid of the smell. Housekeeping did a great job. The staff was very helpful and professional. The beach is just a short walk away with plenty to do on the boardwalk including bike rentals, an amusement park, and many places to eat. The continental breakfast was the biggest and best I have ever seen, and it was constantly being restocked. The pool was small, but refreshing after being in the sun. Plenty of security during the July 4th weekend. Overall, a great place to stay.

Top Local Tips for Virginia Beach

Survival tips for VA Beach There is a lot to do in this area, don't be afraid stay close to the attractions you plan on visiting to save travel time. If all you want to do is visit the beach this is a great place, the beach seemed very clean and the boardwalk and bike path were great. Restaraunts close to the beach are very pricy so head inland to find good deals. Be sure to check the local regulation for beach use as there seem to be a lot of rules that may may hinder the beach going experience for some.

Parasailing You simply must try the parasailing. It was my first time going up but it won't be my last. Wonderful! Not to expensive around $75 each.

came from Williamburg before seeing Virginia Beach Williamburg is good for history buffs, but do not expect children to enjoy themselves.....they may get bored......it is mostly walking through old homes...boring from a kids perspective. But, they will love the Waterpark in Williamsburg...take them there! My kids are still talking about all the fun at the waterpark in Williamsburg.
