From the first moment our daughter (then a student at VCU) checked out the inn for our graduation weekend visit and activites, she fell in love. We soon learned why...such a gorgeous place and such friendly inkeepers. This is a beautiful retreat in the city of Richmond and the weekend package was well worth the cost. Everything is beautiful and classy. The entire environment and experience is relaxing and refreshing. Albert and Dawn are wonderful innkeepers and love their home, business and serving their guests. The most wonderful breakfasts we have EVER tasted were served with elegance and southern hospitality. We've sent friends to stay as we cannot recommend this inn highly enough. We look forward to a return trip and continued success.

From the moment we entered the equisite front doors of this beautifully restored town home, we felt we were visiting old friends. Our very friendly host and hostess showed us to our magnificent room decorated with impecable old world charm. The only thing more amazing than the accomodations was the food. You will eat like royalty seated at a beautifully set table in a lovely, large dining room. There is endless amounts of homecooked goodies and delicious coffees and juices. If weather permits, there is a balcony to sit out on, Internet access if needed, etc. etc.

We highly recommend this lovely Inn to all who visit the Richmond area.

Very pleasant stay.

I stayed at the Grace for two nights in mid-2004 and enjoyed it very much. Friendly atmosphere in a fabulous grand old house. I would stay again. BTW, the breakfasts were sensational!

I have stayed at Grace Manor for the entire duration of the Virginia legislative session (approximately two months) in both 2005 and when it opened in 2004. It has beautiful accomodations, and extraordinarily gracious inn-keepers (or owners). Breakfasts are a culinary delight - the owner is as qualified as a chef in a five star restaurant and we are treated to more than one course in a magnificent dining room. More often than not it is a hot breakfast. My suite is commodious and beautifully decorated (and the bed is very comfortable). My private bathroom is large and charming and the second room of the suite affords me the luxury of a small refrigerator and a good television set. I really have access to the entire house and have appreciated the efficient office set up for our convenience - with a modern computer, printer and access to the internet. It is my plan and hope to stay at Grace Manor until I retire from the legislature.

My Husband and I shared our 3rd wedding anniversary at The Grace Manor Inn. We had a wonderful experience. Not only was the hospitality wonderful, the B&B was incredibly beautiful and historical! We only stayed one night and will make sure we stay at least 2 nights next time! The area was wonderful as well! The sushi restaurant we were sent too was the best! If you get a chance take a carriage ride through Maymont! What a wonderful experience! We rate our overall experience Excellent and will definitely be back!

Thank you for wonderful memories!

If you are considering the Grace Manor Inn, consider no more just do it. You will not be upset. It is a beautiful house and Dawn and Albert (Bear and Cocoa) are gracious hosts. Very enjoyable stay in Richmond.

Warm, friendly reception from innkeepers, Dawn andAlbert. Truly gourmet breakfasts each morning. Helpful in planning sightseeing in area and making reservations for dinner.

They raised the bar to a new height.

Dawn and Albert were very professional. Their breakfasts were out of this world. The inn was immaculate and overflowing with beautiful antiques. The atmosphere was perfectly warm and cozy. We prefer B & B's for all the reasons The Grace Manor Inn epitomizes.

Gracious Hospitality at the Grace Manor Inn

It's hard to narrow down what was most special about our 2-night stay at the beautiful Grace Manor Inn. Our June visit began with a tour of the circa 1910 fully-restored home in the fan district of Richmond, within walking distance of many local sites. Everywhere we looked in the spacious Inn, there was a combination of period furniture and modern B&B ammenities! The Fensterer-Davis suite is huge and luxurious with special touches such as a welcome appetizer plate and in-room gourmet coffee maker. Having visited in June, we were glad to find that the rooms were quite cool (A/C).

While the interior of the Inn is magnificent (see web site), the exterior is just as special. There is a veranda on the second floor that just begs a visiter to grab a book & some sweet tea, and read under the ceiling fans. The courtyard has many lovely places to sit, relax, and enjoy the gardens. (Don't miss the sour cherries in June - delicious!).

Days begin at Grace Manor Inn with a 5-star breakfast prepared by Dawn, co-inkeeper & chef extraordinaire, and served by co-innkeeper, Albert. After finishing several courses, you'll be ready for a day of taking in the local sites.

Innkeepers Albert and Dawn ensured that we were armed with all the information we needed to make the most of our short time in Richmond. Whether it's museums, theatre, local food, or guided tours, the Schicks are more than willing to advise and make reservations.

There is much to see and do in Richmond. We recommend a leisurely walk along Monument Avenue, visits to one of the many really wonderful museums, a water tour of the reclaimed canal. In two days, one can't really see all there is to offer!

While much of the city is still in need of an extreme makeover, there is a tremendous amount of revitalization going on. Almost surprisingly, the restaurants in Richmond are terrific - and there are many from which to choose, from Spicy Tai Shrimp (Minnie's) to southern barbeque!

A review of the Grace Manor Inn would not be complete without mention of the two furry members of the innkeeping family. Coco and Bear, two adorable Yorkies, greet all the guests and are happy to engage in a game of fetch!

The Schicks are warm, welcoming, and eager to make your stay an experience you won't soon forget. Though you are co-occupying the Schick's home, you will feel relaxed and comfortable in the parlors and porches. The Schick's passion for innkeeping is evident in each little touch (loved the Lindt candies and the chocolate chip cookies!) offered by the Grace Manor Inn.

We couldn't recommend the Grace Manor Inn more highly, and we plan to return there soon.

Top Local Tips for Richmond

History There is so much rich history associated with Richmond and the surrounding areas. Lots of Civil War history, but much more than that. Richmond is close to many other attractions found in the beautiful state of Virginia.

A great local restaurant Eat dinner at Edo's Squid in the Fan District. Be sure to make reservations. Great Italian style seafood.

Wonderful historic area Don't miss Hollywood Cemetary and the State Capital building, both are wonderful.
