Top Local Tips for Norfolk

Norfolk's airport is easy to access. I found that the exit off 1-64 to Norfolk Intl Airport is easy to navigate and the signs are clear for returning cars. Smaller airport (I'm used to giant ones anyway) so very simple to return car, walk over to the main terminal and check in. One word of caution is to allow time to go thru Norfolk's many bridges and the tunnel north of the airport. I was trying to leave on a Saturday afternoon and got stuck in traffic. Lighted signs along the way said it was a four mile slowdown but that the tunnel was clear. Helps, but you need to factor in what time of day you are going to travel to the airport. Not sure what rush hour would be like, but I can imagine!

Art Rulz One of my favorite things about Norfolk is the plentitude of original art and the Stockley Gardens Art festival which is usually held in May. Well priced classes are also available from the City of Norfolk and listed in their Good Times Magazine. Another things I love to do is "junking." That's what I call going to the various (and there are many) thrift, and second hand stores in the Norfolk area.
