I spent 8 days in December at this hotel. The overall experience was excellent. Staff was extremely helpful and service was excellent. Location could not have been better. The ability to get to Metro and the shopping/restaurants in the area made this a destination to use again.

Great Location

Just returned from a stay at the Hilton Arlington. The hotel had many pluses. The location right above a Metro Station was perfect. It was rather cold during our visit and being able to just hop to the metro without having to walk blocks in the cold was a huge plus. The staff was very nice and helpful. Our room was very clean and though not huge, had plenty of room for the 4 adults and 1 child that shared the room for one night. Only pitfall to the room was the airconditioner. Even though it was very cold outside, the room was very hot and stuffy. The airconditioner pretty much didn't work at all. Fortuantely we were able to slide our window open a bit to get some air, but due to the winds howling we were unable to leave it open while we slept. This made for a uncomfortable night. We took advantage of the mall being attached via sky walks, ate dinner at the Ruby Tuesdays which is attached to the hotel and had drinks at the Hotels resturant. There is also an IHOP located across the street from the lobby entrance where we had breakfast. Not to mention the numerous other places located in and around the building. We would stay there again.

This hotel has very convenient location, as it is right above the Ballston mall Metro Stop, next to the shopping mall, and walking distance to NSF and their respective contractors. The mall is nothing to brag about, but the Rock Bottom bar is a nice place to meet new people. The fitness center isn't free unless you're a Hilton Honors Gold member. Likewise with internet access and breakfast. No choc chip cookie at check-in, either. The room itself was okay, but there was no mini-fridge. On the bright side, Starbucks, Tivoli, and a few restaurants are on the first floor. Tivoli has excellent food, deserts and wine selection... great for a midnight snack.

So-So Hotel

Hotel was clean. Had a small room on the 4th floor. Adequate for a single person. Homeless wandering around due proximity of the Metro station. Rooms have old style HVAC underneath the windows and is loud and vibrating. Thermostat control snaps on and off. The plus is the ease to get around the DC sights since the Metro stop is right at the hotel. Received a good rate through Continental Onepass booking.

Awful Hotel

I am very disappointed with the Arlington Hilton. Having just stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Williamsburg, VA (which was very good), I was expecting a great experience. Setting aside the surly and unhelpful staff, I believe I was deliberately misled about the service. I contacted the hotel and was advised that there was wireless connections in the rooms. No such thing. Also, I reserved a club level accomodations and was advised that there was a a lounge with appetizers and a bar for guests. No such thing. For this I paid a premium? There are also, contrary to the Internet listing, no exercise facilities nor a business center. On top off all else, I was placed in the smallest room on the floor that was also the furthest away from the elevators. Despite there being other rooms being available, staff would not change my room because of "policy." Needless to say I will have to think twice before reserving a room at Hilton.

I stayed at the Hilton Arlington on Sept. 24th. When i walked into the room i was amazed at it's size and beauty. Never having a hotel room for myself alone, I felt so priveledged. The room was super clean and tastefully done, and the bathroom was elegant with marble.
I ate dinner that night at Dan & Brad's in the hotel. I had one of the best filet mignons ever.
My room was right above the metro, but with the window closed it wasn't too loud.
I am so glad that when i booked my flight and hotel i got this one. I would definetly go out of my way to stay there again.

Wonderful stay

This Hilton greatly exceeded my expectations. The rooms are beautiful, with granite counter tops, nicely appointed furnishings and the bed was amazing! From the heavenly soft down comforter and pillows to the bath amenities, this was truly a quiet, relaxing visit. I highly recommend the Hilton Arlington and look forward to my next stay.

Would not stay again due to poor security procedures

We booked our family vacation at the Hilton Arlington due to it's location & many amenities. My wife, 13 year old daughter & I stayed for 3 nights August 4th through the 6th. The hotel was clean & comfortable & we really enjoyed our first 2 nights & were looking forward to a good night sleep our last night due to an early Sunday flight.
At 2:30 am on Sunday we were awaken by a couple yelling in the room next door. After 30 minutes of this I called the desk. The desk agent said that he would take care of it. Another 10 minutes went by & the couple next door were still going at it. At times it sounded like the man was throwing the woman into the wall. I called the desk again & he said that he called the room, but no one answered. I suggested he call the police due to the intensity. He said that he would send up security. Another 10 to 15 minutes went by & still no let up from next door. I called the desk again & he told me that security heard nothing & left.
After calling the desk 5 times, I finally called the police. Both my wife & 13 year old daughter were terrified that the woman was being hurt or that gunshots were going to ring out any second. The police arrived & knocked on the door until they answered. After the police left it finally got quiet around 4:20am.
I can certainly understand that things can happen in hotels as I have traveled for many years now & have even managed hotels myself for 12 years, but the lack of seriousness from the front desk & security staff was unexcusable and unprofessional. We left a message for the manager on Sunday when we checked out and when we got home, but have still not heard from management. We will be going back to DC but will not stay at the Hilton Arlington!

Fantastic Hotel!

Just returned from Arlington, and stayed at this wonderful hotel. Rooms are simply beautiful, and got a great rate of 123.00 per nite (AAA). The price was fantastic for this type of hotel and room. It would easily be $140-150 a nite in Chicago. The rooms are furnished in dark wood and nicely appointed. Watched the Pistons LOSE on the large plasma screen in the beautiful hotel lobby/lounge area.

The best thing about this hotel, besides everything else,....it is connected to Ballston Mall. The anchor store is Hecht's. The mall is about two years old, so everything is quite new. This hotel should really be your first choice when staying in Arlington. Trust me!!!

Great Location!

Recently returned from a first time trip to Washington D.C. with my family. I actually chose this hotel based on the reviews from the other members. I would definitely stay here again based on the location. This hotel is located just above the Ballston Metro station, and we used it as our main mode of transporation to do sightseeing in D.C. during our week-long stay. We also rented a car, but after one day of trying to find a decent parking space along the National Mall, we were so thankful for the Metro! The rooms are decent, clean, and tastefully decorated. There is a skywalk to the Ballston Common Mall that has a Rockbottom Brewery, Macaroni Grill, and a Chevy's. The food court there is just so-so. Also located nearby are an IHOP, and a decent Chinese and pizza place just across the street. I guess the only downside is that we had to pay $15 dollars a day for parking for a car we barely used. But again, I highly reccommend this hotel.

Great Stay, New Rooms

Just stayed at the Hilton Arlington in one of the remodeled rooms and the renovations are wonderful. The entire room has been renovated from floor to ceiling, new carpet, new wallpaper, new bed, new duvet cover and sheets, etc. The front desk said that all of their sleeping rooms will be complete by mid-February.

The staff and location of this hotel have always been the reason why I stay there (its right above the metro), but the renovations are definately a bonus. Plus, they have access for a small fee to Sport & Health Club, which is connected to the hotel thru a skywalk. Much better than the usual hotel exercise room.

Top Local Tips for Arlington

metro is the way to go Definitely buy an all day metro card for $6.50 per person. It is worth it! Driving in the DC area is nuts, it is not worth the aggravation or your nerves.

Metro is AWESOME!!!! As someone from Chicago I am used to public transportation but I had no clue just how great they have it in the D.C. area. The Metro is clean, convenient and easy to figure out due to great signage and digital clocks. Use it all that you can. The only bad thing is that it does not go to Georgetown BUT with all that cab fare you are saving by using the Metro can be used for a daytrip to Georgetown.
