great location
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat place to stay
from A TripAdvisor MemberAn ideal place to stay in the DC area
from Cool_librarianMy king room had a small refrigerator and microwave, average-sized bath with marble accents, lots of lights, digital thermstat, lots of pillows on the bed, large desk, two business phones, and an armchair with ottoman. The hotel offers free, wirelesss internet access and remote printing to their business center, although I was only able to get the wireless access the first two nights I stayed. After that, I was only able to pick it up in the lobby. The hotel wasn't nearly as busy the first two nights, so perhaps that is why. The room was quiet except for the occasional flush of a commode in an adjacent room.
Maid service was exceptional. The room was fresh and spotless every day of my stay.
The business center is a tiny room behind the lobby. It has a photocopier, printer, and two well-equipped computers. Next to the front desk is a tiny convenience mart that sells basic toiletries, snacks, beverages, and foods that can be heated in your room. The front desk also offers fresh-baked cookies.
The restuarant is open for breakfast (an average hot buffet for around $8) and dinner (excellent food ... far better than expected for a hotel). Room service is also available during dinner hours, and the prices aren't too bad. The desserts are awesome! If you don't see them on the room service menu, ask about them.
I heard the hotel also had a pool and fitness center, but I didn't get a chance to use them.
This hotel is located in a clean, safe neighborhood. I felt safe walking around after dark. It is right next to the courthouse, so during the day there are cops everywhere. If you get a chance to explore, walk around the neighborhood around the Metro station entrances. There are several restaurants and shops. There's also a movie theater. Right at the courthouse entrance is a neighborhood map.
The Metro station is just a quick two-block walk from the hotel. If it's raining (or a near blizzard in my case!), the hotel van will take you to the Metro, cab station, or other nearby areas. Downtown DC is only about 15 minutes away by Metro. The hotel is about a $16 cab ride from Union Station.
great location, clean hotel

from A TripAdvisor MemberThe minuses: to keep the room at the set temperature, the fan automatically runs for a period -- very noisey - must turn TV to loud which may distrub other guests as well as myself. Cable stations provided are limited -- which I find amazing. If you purchase a cable package, at least in a residence, you receive all cable channels. The hotel obviously removes several channels, like MSNBC is not available.
The staff is friendly and the room is usually well maintained. It is easy to tell when the cleaning staff switches for a day however.
One of the best
from robertj1277Great place to stay when visiting DC
from MelissaMC13The Best!!!!
from ferneliasWe bought the Vacation package at expedia and the price was very good as well. It is close to the courthouse metro station, and the metro in DC is the Best! The room is so new and clean it should be a 4 star hotel. There is complimentary fresh fruits, starbucks cofee (with flavoured syrups and flavoured half and halfs), and tea. There is also a very nice paid breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, as well as a nice and trendy Bar. There is also a complimentary shuttle bus with a very nice driver. The staff is friendly but they should just have more knowledge of the area. But I forgive them! Overall, the hotel is one of the best I have ever been too.
Terrific Hotel

Detour signs confusing The highway 50 exit was closed for a part of the time we were here - if you have the same experience, keep in mind that there may be more than one detour at a time - so the signage for the detour will list more than one destination at first, then split off into two separate detours in two directions with separate destinations. This was confusing at first.
Metro With a metro access minutes away from the Hilton Garden, a car is totally unessesary (sp?) The Metro and the Hilton Garden made a train trip to Washington a possibility. If you are doing this, it is necessary to travel light. One small rolling suitcase per person is best possibly with a small carry on bag . From Union Station take the red line to Metro Center and transfer to the Orange line and get off at Courthouse station. From the Courthouse Plaza exit you can see the hotel diagonally accross the street. The Metro gets you to almost anyplace in DC that you would want to go. It is best to estimate the number of Metro trips you are going to take and buy a large enough farecard to cover all of them. If you overestimate, as I did, the station agent at most Metro stops can supply a form to apply for a refund. Washington has one of the best public transportation systems I have ever used.
Bistrot Du Coin Fantastic French bistro in Du Pont Circle. Excellent. www.bistrotducoin.com
