We had a wonderful experience at this hotel for a week's stay in January. The service was flawless. Everyone from front desk to housekeeping to restaurant staff is courteous, service oriented, and performs their job well. Our room was spotless. We ordered room service twice, which can always be iffy, and the food was excellent and served quickly. This hotel is very close to DC and there are many excellent restaurants nearby. We will certainly stay there again.

First trip to DC and took the advice of previous travelers. Great rate obtained on their website, close to subway, very safe area. Would definitely stay there again.

An ideal place to stay in the DC area

from Cool_librarian
I stayed at this hotel for four nights in early March 2004. I chose it based on the previous TripAdvisor reviews, the price, and the proximity to the Metro. I loved this hotel and would definitely stay here on my next trip to DC.

My king room had a small refrigerator and microwave, average-sized bath with marble accents, lots of lights, digital thermstat, lots of pillows on the bed, large desk, two business phones, and an armchair with ottoman. The hotel offers free, wirelesss internet access and remote printing to their business center, although I was only able to get the wireless access the first two nights I stayed. After that, I was only able to pick it up in the lobby. The hotel wasn't nearly as busy the first two nights, so perhaps that is why. The room was quiet except for the occasional flush of a commode in an adjacent room.

Maid service was exceptional. The room was fresh and spotless every day of my stay.

The business center is a tiny room behind the lobby. It has a photocopier, printer, and two well-equipped computers. Next to the front desk is a tiny convenience mart that sells basic toiletries, snacks, beverages, and foods that can be heated in your room. The front desk also offers fresh-baked cookies.

The restuarant is open for breakfast (an average hot buffet for around $8) and dinner (excellent food ... far better than expected for a hotel). Room service is also available during dinner hours, and the prices aren't too bad. The desserts are awesome! If you don't see them on the room service menu, ask about them.

I heard the hotel also had a pool and fitness center, but I didn't get a chance to use them.

This hotel is located in a clean, safe neighborhood. I felt safe walking around after dark. It is right next to the courthouse, so during the day there are cops everywhere. If you get a chance to explore, walk around the neighborhood around the Metro station entrances. There are several restaurants and shops. There's also a movie theater. Right at the courthouse entrance is a neighborhood map.

The Metro station is just a quick two-block walk from the hotel. If it's raining (or a near blizzard in my case!), the hotel van will take you to the Metro, cab station, or other nearby areas. Downtown DC is only about 15 minutes away by Metro. The hotel is about a $16 cab ride from Union Station.

great location, clean hotel

As a lifelong DC native who recently moved away, I stayed here in Jan 2005. Hotel is in a great location one block from Metro and near lots of great restaurants. Rooms are clean and staff is nice. A very pleasant hotel that is kept very nicely.

Great location and amenities

I got a fantastic rate online, and the free high-speed internet and parking are more than worth the price of the room. THe place is quiet, clean and with a convenient location. The small and few problems I encountered (no regular coffee in room) were fixed quickly. You get a fridge and microwave in your room. Really, what more do you need in a hotel? I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I would recommend it to anyone who has business or pleasure in DC.

Business trip.

I feel secure in this hotel and the surrounding neighborhood, i.e., walking from the conveniently located Metro after dark.
The minuses: to keep the room at the set temperature, the fan automatically runs for a period -- very noisey - must turn TV to loud which may distrub other guests as well as myself. Cable stations provided are limited -- which I find amazing. If you purchase a cable package, at least in a residence, you receive all cable channels. The hotel obviously removes several channels, like MSNBC is not available.
The staff is friendly and the room is usually well maintained. It is easy to tell when the cleaning staff switches for a day however.

One of the best

Ok, I will tell you all right now that this place was fantastic. It is in a nice part of Arlington. But I dont know if Arlington has any bad parts, Anyway. There is free underground parking. Rooms have granite countertops in bathroom and massaging shower heads. Big, comfy beds. Microwave, Fridge, Coffee maker with Starbucks Coffee. Work desk with ergonomic comfy chair. Its very clean. This is the most bang for your buck in Arlington. Trust me.

Great place to stay when visiting DC

from MelissaMC13
What an excellent hotel! Conveniently located near an Orange Metro step, close to a few good restaurants, a CVS, Office Depot, and a few other fun bars, this hotel is a great choice for visiting the DC area and avoiding being right in the middle of city. Free parking in the underground garage, beautiful lobby, a great bar/lounge with equally great bartenders, and good bar food! The room was beautiful and immaculately clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to ANYONE staying in the DC area.

The Best!!!!

I highly recomend this hotel!
We bought the Vacation package at expedia and the price was very good as well. It is close to the courthouse metro station, and the metro in DC is the Best! The room is so new and clean it should be a 4 star hotel. There is complimentary fresh fruits, starbucks cofee (with flavoured syrups and flavoured half and halfs), and tea. There is also a very nice paid breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, as well as a nice and trendy Bar. There is also a complimentary shuttle bus with a very nice driver. The staff is friendly but they should just have more knowledge of the area. But I forgive them! Overall, the hotel is one of the best I have ever been too.

Terrific Hotel

This hotel is a real gem! My family and I just returned from a four night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. The property is only two years old so the hotel has a new feel to it. The room was very spacious, much larger than I expected. The room and the hotel itself was very clean. The room is nicely furnished, the beds were reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate. There is free underground parking if you have a car. The hotel offers free fruit and cookies in the lobby. The hotel is in a great location-a short walk to the orange metro and walking distance to a new upscale shopping center boutique where you can find the Cheesecake Factory and several other good restaurants. The hotel is as about as close to D.C. without actually staying in D.C. Last but not least, the $169 a night rate I got on the internet is a great rate for this hotel with the amenities and the location it has to offer. In D.C. area, I can't imagine a better hotel for the value than the Hilton Garden Inn.

Top Local Tips for Arlington

Detour signs confusing The highway 50 exit was closed for a part of the time we were here - if you have the same experience, keep in mind that there may be more than one detour at a time - so the signage for the detour will list more than one destination at first, then split off into two separate detours in two directions with separate destinations. This was confusing at first.

Metro With a metro access minutes away from the Hilton Garden, a car is totally unessesary (sp?) The Metro and the Hilton Garden made a train trip to Washington a possibility. If you are doing this, it is necessary to travel light. One small rolling suitcase per person is best possibly with a small carry on bag . From Union Station take the red line to Metro Center and transfer to the Orange line and get off at Courthouse station. From the Courthouse Plaza exit you can see the hotel diagonally accross the street. The Metro gets you to almost anyplace in DC that you would want to go. It is best to estimate the number of Metro trips you are going to take and buy a large enough farecard to cover all of them. If you overestimate, as I did, the station agent at most Metro stops can supply a form to apply for a refund. Washington has one of the best public transportation systems I have ever used.

Bistrot Du Coin Fantastic French bistro in Du Pont Circle. Excellent. www.bistrotducoin.com
