Two Thumbs Up
from A TripAdvisor Member
After a long drive from Pennsylvania, the Hilton was a welcome sight indeed. We were warmly greeted by the staff, our reservations were intact, and our room very much in order. A timely shuttle took us to and from metro stops, and we looked forward to relaxing either in the room or at the pool after long days of sightseeing and touring. It was nice being so close to downtown Alexandria, as well as D.C. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again.
Superior stay

For $100 per night in the DC area, this is a great hotel. The hotel staff is prompt and courteous. On the night of our arrival, we asked for a microwave. We had in 5 minutes. Later, we needed a rollaway bed for an extra guest. They delivered in 5 minutes, and there was no extra charge. Above average fitness center. The pool looks nice, although we couldn't use it because of lightning in the area. The hotel atrium is very spacious. Covered parking is available, although it is a bit of a walk. The hotel shuttle will take you to the airport or to the nearest Metro stop. We were very pleased.
Great value!

I stayed at the Hilton Mark Center for a weekend in July 2005 and was delighted with my stay. I was given a tower room on the 27th floor with a beautiful panoramic view of the DC skyline. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, room service food was great (though pricey), and overall for $99 a night it was a great value. The only frustration was that they nickel-and-dime their guests to death -- $9 for self-parking, $10 per night for Internet access, etc. I know these things cost money, but I think they should just up the room rate a little to account for the charges and don't add extra stuff to the bill. Overall, though, I highly recommend the Hilton Mark Center. Ask for room 2714 -- what a view!
dont let retreat room scare you great hotel, great stay

Just returned from a stay at this hotel 7/4-7/9, my sister, my nephews and myself. When we arrived we had to wait to check in as there were no clean rooms due to the parade in D.C. We walked around the grounds and saw the pond with the fountain and the retreat area. After waiting over 2 hours to check in we agreed to take a room in the retreat, I was somewhat concerned as I had read reviews on this forum. However I was very pleased with the retreat room. It was larger that the other rooms and had a deck. It was very quiet and relaxing, whereas the hotel was very loud. The long walk that others talked about was no more than going downstairs past the pool and down a short hallway and we were on the 5th floor. It took my nephew and I longer to go up to one of the top floor than it did to walk from my room to the lobby.
We had great housekeeping service and the room was very nice and neat.
The bathroom had lots of towels and neutregena products.
They have a shuttle that runs to the Pentagon City metro and is very convient, with the exception of being very full and on the 4th we were packed like sardines. They run starting at 6am and the last one is 11pm. They run every 30 minutes.
There is a very nice Borders bookstore, Starbucks, and a great pizza place called California Pizza Kitchen across the street. The mall is very nice and there is a food court downstairs.
We loved our whole vacation and look forward to going back again. My advise to anyone is to do your research. I read every travel book I could find. Know what metro lines to take, the hours the museums are open and if it says to get in line for tickets early do it. And drink lots of water in the summer heat.
Also expect small problems but don't let them keep you from enjoying the whole experience, it is well worth it.

Great value and beautiful hotel!
from bellaitalia2005
I was very impressed with the Hilton Mark. First, you cannot beat the price- 99 a night is a great deal for the d.c. area. Secondly, i didn't expect it to be such a nice looking hotel (marble lobby, very new looking, glass outside) the rooms were comfortable and modern and the bathroom had a nice granite sink area. I checked out the pool and fitness center and they looked great too. The staff was friendly and helpful. Also, the restaurant finn and porter served great drinks and food (sushi, steaks, etc.) and they were reasonable priced. The best thing about the hotel is a FREE shuttle to the airport and metro station every half hour! THis saved me a lot of money on taxi fare which I assumed i'd have to pay since the hotel is about a 15 minute ride to d.c. the metro in d.c. is sooo convenient that we used it all weekend. Overall, go to the hilton mark, save money and enjoy d.c.!
Excellent hotel

Recently spent a week at this great hotel. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable with down comforters and plenty of down pillows. The sheets were so silky! The staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel is outside the hustle and bustle of the city, but yet close with the shuttle service to the nearest subway. This is the ideal place to stay when visiting D.C. I would stay here again in a hearbeat!
Kudos to the Hilton

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center! For the price (less than US $100 per night), we were impressed with the hotel and the room. Taking the advice of previous guests we stayed away from the "retreat" rooms which were a bit of a hike. The proximity of the hotel to the airport and the Pentagon City subway make it a great home base for out of town sightseers.
Contrary to what I had read in previous reviews, the schedule for the shuttle to the subway/airport were prompt and efficient.
All in all, I'd recommend this spot especially for the budget conscious family that still likes the trappings of a more upscale hotel.

Not bad at all

Was in town one night for a wedding. The reception was at the Hilton, so we decided to stay here as well. The conveinance factor was the key to everything. Very close to I-395, rooms were clean, and the towels were the best hotel towels I have ever used. If you are in the area just to visit DC, I would stay somewhere closer, but for this trip, it was great.
Top Local Tips for Alexandria
Hotel Shuttle Use the shuttle. It is free and convenient for getting to the airport.
Hotel Shuttle If you are driving, try not to use the shuttle to get around in the DC. Drive yourself, there is always metered parking in the capitol area. Shuttle service is great, but it takes time to reach to DC, since you have to get off the shuttle and take the subway to reach the national mall area.
Don't take a car! Learn to use the metro. clean, fast and fun. Auto traffic is terrible!
