Year 'Round Destination Orem is very close to Provo, Utah, home of Brigham Young University. Depending on the time of year, hotels can be packed with patents and families of students: special campus events, beginning and end of school year, sporting events, etc. Pioneer Day is a Utah Holiday that takes place toward mid-July and most areas can be pretty crowded then. Weather is nice year 'round with hot summers and cold winters, mild fall and spring. Many think Utah--especially the Salt Lake Valley--can be difficult for the non LDS visitor, wrongfully thinking they won't find a Starbucks, alcohol or night club anywhere. Nothing is further from the truth. Do NOT prejudge your Utah visit. The state is one of, if not the most, beautiful in the US. Salt Lake City is a mimi-Denver to some or a lage-Boise to others. Personally, I think it's a beautiful city with an outstanding public transportation system: bus, light rail and trains, arts scene, vibrant history and even a healthy gay scene.,
