Decent place- friendly staff

from CTRunner
This hotel is a decent option when in San Antonio. Staff was very polite and friendly going the extra mile to give me a bottle of water and a towel when I crossed the concierge desk after running the Riverwalk in the morning. Rooms were clean, however somewhat small. Too many great choices on the Riverwalk to even consider dining in the hotel at inflated prices. Breakfast was an easy choice at Denny's across the street. Enjoyed the concierge lounge as well. All in All- I'd return.

My 2nd home

My husband and I were there 3 yrs ago and we had reserved a room and had to change our confirmation date. When we called to change it they told us that our room was gone but we would love the one we got. We ended up with the Presidental Suite for $169 a night!!!!! Awesome service and wonderful weekend....we would recommend it to anybody....

great location

Me & husband stayed here for the weekend of labor day. I loved the room view since I asked for a high floor, the room was above average clean and smelled really fresh. I love the fact that we were connected to the mall ( very convinient)and they had a great restuarant downstairs that made incredible omlettes! The bathroom fixtures were spotless and with plenty of room for girl stuff! Its has a pretty busy lobby, and they play piano in the evenings which was a plus for us, loved the indoor pool and the outside pool margaritas, very kid friendly they had snacks and lemomade for kids by pool too....

not quite right

This Marriott is very conveniently located and fairly new. It's got all the makings of a great hotel but somehow falls short. I appreciated the indoor/outdoor pool and the many dining options (dining options on the Riverwalk are okay but not compelling). There seems to be no sound insulation in the rooms, a situation exacerbated by the plethora of mysterious noises (HVAC?) that went on all night. Housekeeping and roomservice staff were friendly and helpful but everyone else was aloof and either condescending or, sometimes, unprofessional. Make no mistake, staying here is not horribly unpleasant - it's just that I've had much better experiences at other hotels, other Marriotts.
P.S. if you have the option, DON'T use SA Trans as your hotel transfer - they're incredibly unreliable about pick up times.

t want to leave the Marriott !!!

We spent September 11,2004 here at the Marriott Rivercenter and we loved it! We were here for our 8th wedding anniversary (which I had noted when making our reservations) and at check-in, the front desk clerk congratulated us on our anniversary and upgraded us to a Junior King Suite on the 35th floor! If that's not enough, he also included breakfast for two, compliments of the Marriott! We were so excited! The room was incredible, as were the views of the river and town. The lobby was gorgeous and the pool and workout area were above average ( in regards to size and equipment available). In the morning we went for breakfast in the restaurant and had an outstanding brunch. If you stay at the RiverCenter, don't miss it! You will definitely get your money's worth. The selection was great, as were the food items offered. The presentation was extremely nice, with desserts almost too pretty to eat. The staff was super-nice, from the front desk clerk, to our waiter in the restaurant, to the bell captain as we arrived. If you're staying in San Antonio, try to stay at the Marriott RiverCenter. You won't be disappointed, we can't wait to go back!!!

Just returned from a week stay at this hotel, what a wonderful time we had: The room we were given was the hospitality suite, one word, WOW! It was the greatest with wet bar, separate living room and wonderful murphy bed. The concierge level was great for breakfast and snacks! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We will give it a 10+.

Ok if booking a convention; not so great otherwise

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Rivercenter August 23 & 24, 2004. If we had not booked our room through Priceline and received a rate of $75 per night, we would not have stayed here. Although the Marriott's location directly next to the Rivercenter Mall and close proximity to various restaurants make it a desirable convention headquarters, I was not overly impressed with my room. It was obvious that redecorating and upgrading the amenities is not something the Marriott corporation spends a great deal of time on. The bed was not comfortable at all. Our room was located on the 12th floor, overlooking the swimming pool and airconditioning units. Not nice at all! Had I been paying the "rack rate" posted on our door, I would have immediately requested a refund and checked out of the hotel.

Yuck! Dirty hotel! Not worth the money!!!

Well, I just returned from a week long trip to San Antonio, Texas. July 30- Aug 5.. Upon check-in I had to change rooms five or six times. (this is no joke) Every room we moved to had water stains/spots in the corners of the room and by the television. The water wasn't really wet wet but it was still damp. We moved to the 16, 17, 22, and 20th floor. All the rooms were exactly the same. I think this whole hotel has leakage problems... you could see all the water spots on the ceiling. The beds were uncomfortable and they even seemed a bit wet as well. All the rooms had a very musty odor probably because of the wet carpet etc. I am an extremely picky person so I check/notice everything! If your not as picky as me then a lot of these things could/would be overlooked. Lighting in all the rooms is very poor and the pool stinks! I've seen so much better.. especially at this price.. check out my reviews on some awesome hotels in Florida. In my opinion, the entire city of San Antonio is run down and dirty. The types of people who are seen wandering the streets and working in public places are strange... they seem very ignorant...most cannot give directions and seem to be on another planet. I will never again visit this city unless I have to. The Riverwalk and Alamo are overrated...definitely not worth it... Now on a positive note- this hotel is probably the best that San Antonio has to offer... the hotel is connected to the mall, within walking distance to the alamo and convention center and located right on the Riverwalk. The Garden Cafe also has an excellent buffet. You might be curious as to why we stayed here....well... because of the convention that was going on all the other hotels in the area were booked... (the Church of God General Assembly)... To help accomodate us the staff gave us two $30 gift certificates to the Garden Cafe... we were also given two nights free... this was very considerate but it still did not make up for the poor quality of this hotel. The hotel needs a huge makeover...the whole city for that matter needs to be torn down and re-built.. ugh!! I was just not impressed by anything here.. sorry!

This Marriott Rocks

We stayed at the Marriott just one night, but it was a great time. The hotel is located right next door to the Rivercenter Mall and smack dab in the middle of the Riverwalk.
The staff was wonderful, quick and attentive. One of the women at the check in desk talked with our 2 young girls and gave us free tickets for the guided boat tour. The bell staff and valet's were nice and really took care of us.
The pool is half indoor and outdoor. It is situated on the roof of the 4th floor. It was a neat experience for the kids to swim up there.

Great Hotel!

Great hotel! Was there during 4th of July weekend for a convention and enjoyed every moment of it! Staff was fantastic, rooms were very spacious and ALWAYS clean! Very accomodating! My friends room was a little stuffy and maintenance came in immediately and fixed the problem! Great hotel! Will stay again!

Top Local Tips for San Antonio

Get a quick massage inside the River Walk mall. In between the Marriott and Macy's is a little gem of a massage place. Rates were typically - $1/minute for a chair massage. There was no waiting and the lady did a nice job working out the knots. Sneak out of your conference at the Marriott for a little refresher!

Tips Request upper floor for a better view. Use the trolleys for $.70.

MIRROR MAZE This was really fun - you will want to keep going back
