loved hill country hyatt

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was a phenomenal top-flight experience. The grounds were immaculate, and the service and staff were professional and displayed true texas hospitality. The location is friendly both for children, yet an intimate and romantic location for couples, with the elegance and beauty of the hill country surrounding area. The dining establishments had excellent food, both at the casual and more upscale restuarant, with some excellent cuisine. The wait staff in both areas, but especially the fine dining restaurant, with a huge chandelier, were friendly and knowledgable. One staff member did go above and beyond for us. I think his name was Rick Franco. He was extremely attentive to every need.

Completely Satisfied

The Best resort we have ever stayed at. The people, service, food, rooms, hotel, golf, view, everything was excellant. The spa was exceptional. We recieved wonderful rates. We traveled there over the Thanksgiving and New Years Holidays, we have been going for a few years and always have a great time, it is one of my favorite places to go, very peaceful and the employees' are always so attentive and friendly.
I was so 'spoiled'. I will go back.

Good holiday destination

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Hyatt Hill Country in mid-December. and it was nicely decked out for the holidays, including nightly carolers in the lobby.

Due to low temperatures, we did not make much use of the water facilities, but the pool and hot tubs were open for the "brave". Other amenities, such as the fitness room and bicycles, were excellent. They even have a playground for the little ones.

Staff was very friendly. We got a low cost upgrade to a suite that was well worth it.

Food was very costly for what you get. Breakfast was $10 - so we skipped it, but I guess they can get it from many people due to the remote location.

If you have a car and a family, this is a good place to stay. Drive to downtown is about 20 minutes, so if you can make the trip during off-traffic times it is not a problem at all.

Kid friendly, good spa, good golf

from mjgatto
Great hotel to let your kids have fun! Our 4 year-old son loved his stay. It is about the only time he has gone to sleep exhausted for 4 straight days! The lazy river, Camp Hyatt, kid movies at night on the great lawn, smores, and man-made beaches kept him entertained for hours. We also had some adult time, with golf for me and the spa for my wife. The resort is close to Sea world, which we enjoyed. The only drawbacks are: - if you are planning to visit San Antonio, this is not the place for you - if you want to go to New Braunfels, it is a hike from the resort - the rooms were smaller than expected - food prices are very expensive!

Could be great, but

This resort has the potential to be great for families; however, a) had to wait for my room even though I had called earlier to reconfirm b) shower didn't work correctly c) pool, etc. needs to either be increased in size or decrease the number of guests (potentially dangerous situations for young children) d) staff needs an attitude overhaul--they seem very indifferent to the guests e) no one told us of the amenities available--I only knew because we had stayed there before Again--the potential is there--just needs fine tuning Boomer's Travelraters

Nice grounds, but rooms not worth the price

from BAZ3142
The grounds of the resort looked nice. But I was there for a conference, so really didn't have a chance to use any of the resort amenities. My room really needed updating, some repairs, and a thorough cleaning. For the price I paid ($159 at the conference rate), the room was definitely not worth it. If you're going to San Antonio for business, I would recommend another hotel.

Overpriced. The resort grounds, pool area, and spa very nice. Rooms need much maintenance and housekeeping attention. Drapes were completely torn from top to bottom. A sticky substance was spilled on the wallpaper in the dressing area. Carpet extremely dirty. Phone and remote did not work.

Extremely Disappointed!

from A TripAdvisor Member
What a big disappointment! This was my 4th trip to the Resort and my experience was not good. I had bragged and bragged on the hotel and was so eager to take my son and two nephews for a 4 day trip to San Antonio. I phoned the morning of my arrival from the road to make sure all of the reservations were in order and that we would be receving 2 double beds ( 1 mom and 3 boys....ages 9-16)! Upon arrival I was told we could only get a king size bed and was treated very, very rudely!!! Finally, a manager gave us the double beds....of course, he never came out of his office to speak to us ....only sent word with the clerk, who was a monster! The service was horrible, especially by the pool and there was a smell by the pool that smelled like sewer. The "lazy river" failed to work consistently, was dirty and was extrememly shallow...obviously needing to be refilled. I will never return.

great family getaway

from A TripAdvisor Member
Great time, no stress family vacation resort. Our children 5 & 22 mos.
loved it! The Ramblin river was great, the kids loved the waterfall and the zero entry baby pool was great too. Our 5 year old did the Camp Hyatt one afternoon and asked to go again the next day. There were Disney movies played on movie screen outside on the main lawn! Spa was lovely. Rooms could use a little updating but were ok. Order from menu items for dinners because buffets were just ok. Outside barbeque dinners were great. We will definitely return, hopefully soon!

Hyatt Hill Country Resort

The Hill Country was a treat from day one. Plenty of activities to keep
the kids busy. We had smores (free) in open fire along with large
screen outdoor movie (free). If that was not enough they offered
everyone free popcorn. The kids loved the man made river running
through the resort (you could make it all day event). They even offered
free hay rides around the resort. I give this resort two thumbs up!

Transportation around Hill Country If you need a cab from Hyatt HIll Country call ahead because it is a minimum 20 minute wait to get a cab out there.

Fun Don't stay on the River Walk

Sea World Plan a couple of days at Sea World. It is a beautiful place and fun for all ages. I enjoyed it as much as my son. There was not one piece of trash anywhere. The food is very pricey so keep that in mind.
