What a great place!

Our primary purpose in choosing this hotel was the proximity to Seaworld but soon learned is that this hotel has much more going for it than just a great location.
The hotel pool was beautiful and relaxing, the food at the restaurant was fabulous and the activities they had for our kids were non stop! At night they had fire pits for the kids to grill smoors and different activity rooms for the kids to play in. We really enjoyed our stay at this first class hotel and look forward to returning soon.
Thanks for making our stay such a pleasurable one.

As long as you do not care about your room being cleaned or being able to open the drawers this is a nice hotel. The outside is well kept, the pool is nice (although only half the jets in the spa work). The feeling I received from the cleaning staff was flippant and uncaring. We had to demand our room to be cleaned at 7:00 pm having not been touched all day. The closet door was broken and off the track. The handles were missing from the cabinet and dresser. We had cream for the coffee only on the first day then they even took the ones we brought in. Coffee mugs and glasses were not changed and there were no bags for the ice bucket. I spoke to the manager and his response was that he was too busy right now to discuss this. Trust me stay elsewhere if you want a clean room!

Loved the Sea World Package and the Hotel

from MissLakeTime
I was a little worried as I read reviews on hotels and this hotel has such mixed reviews but I was very satisfied with our stay. We arrived at the hotel late Saturday night and were very pleased with the courteous staff at the Radisson, we were also very impressed with the Sea World backpacks and all the goodies inside for the kids. We were expecting cheap backpacks with a stuffed animial. It was a very nice backpack and had more than the stuffed animal and towel. The smores at the hotel were very nice. The pools were awesome and very accomodating for children of all ages. The shuttle to and from Sea World was awesome. If we wanted to leave before the shuttle would be back (they pick up every hour on the hour) then we called and they came within 10 minutes! Everyone was very friendly! I would definately stay at the Radisson Country Hill Resort & Spa Again.

good place

I thought this hotel was above average. It was very big and seemed to offer a lot of little things such as the smores by the fire and cookout that you dont see at other hotels. The pool was a little on the small side for the amount of rooms the hotel has and the continental breakfast was better than the overpriced buffet. The rooms were clean and up to date. Prompt service when we asked for more towels and pillows. We also really liked having the shuttle to Sea World, sure you have to wait for it but it also saves you $8 dollars a day for parking there (you will need that extra money for the prices inside Sea World) Just get to the meeting place early. I would stay there again.

Misleading

from A TripAdvisor Member
Like others we were expecting more of a resort than a " mid level hotel", but clearly the Radission Hill Country is nothing more. The front desk staff was inept and unfriendly. Assistance of any kind was met with indifference, even simple directions to a pizza place. Which brings up the point that the in house "deli" was closed quite frequently and inexplicably at times when it was apparently supposed to be open.

The pools were small and the kiddie pool had debris.

There was a jazz band one night that was awesome! The highlight of our trip. Too bad we couldn't see them from our room since our "resort view" was obscured by chimney stacks!!

Never returning.

Just returned - please read before booking on-line

Please, beware! We booked this weekend getaway last week to take our 3 year old to Sea World. We unloaded all of our luggage, walked up to the front desk where we were advised we were being transferred to The Crown Plaza downtown. I was extremely angry, but they told us they could do nothing and that since I had booked on-line, through Expedia, I was not notified and this was my only option. They did however tell us the stay would be on them and that we would be refunded the full amount. We called the hotel downtown and they told us that yes, they did have a reservation and they would hold it until midnight. We decided to go ahead and take advantage of the shuttle and spend our planned day at Sea World. We arrived at the Crowne Plaza at 11pm (exhausted and anxious what we were to find) and were able to check in, but in a SMOKING room and nothing else was available nor could they transfer us to another hotel. Just be careful and check your reservation directly with the hotel, unless you want a major inconvenience and go to a hotel with everything smelling like smoke with no pool!

Fair but NOT a resort

from A TripAdvisor Member
I just returned from a two night stay. I booked through Priceline and paid a modest price. The lap pool consists of one lane and is short; the other pools are adequate. The convenience store isn't open at convenient times. The restaurants are pricey. The SeaWorld transportation is not reliable unless you plan to leave on the hour. The room was quiet, dark and comfortable. I just wouldn't pay anything close to shelf price and would not pay what I had to through Priceline again.

Loved it!!!

We just returned from San Antonio a few days ago, and ONCE AGAIN our stay at the Radisson was PERFECT! Radisson has the most helpful, friendly staff out of any hotel that I have ever stayed at and I have traveled world wide. There is a shuttle driver, Shelby that is very informative, the bell boy, Mike is so genuinely helpful and kind, and the reservation manager, Lori, is more than helpful and courteous....... My family and I stayed there lastyear and returned once again this year, we couldn't wait to get there...... we had a suite that was awesome..... and we loved the nightly cookouts and entertainment! You can roast smore's over the firepits at night and it's just genuinely a wonderful place to stay!!! We won't stay anywhere else in San Antonio and I recommend it to anyone with children or without... The shuttle to Sea World is soooooooooooo nice and convienent... If you have plans to go there, definately take advantage of the shuttle!

We enjoyed our stay very much!!!

After reading so many bad comments about this place, I was a little usure myself. We booked on priceline and got our room for $100 a night. We were very pleased with close proximity to Seaworld, which is why went to S.A. Upon check in we asked for an upgrade, and received one with no hassle. We booked reg. room-got upgraded to suite with jacuzzi, separate master bedroom, fridge, and pull out sofa. We asked for extra towels and pillows and were helped very quickly.
OK, the Chazz restauarant is a little pricey, but we were expecting that. We just ate out every night, very close to loop around city with lots of good places. We did eat breakfast buffet some days. We found hotel, gounds, pool, etc. to be very nice. About what u would expect at a "Embassy Suites" We are not fancy people, just upper middle class family folks, but we like nice things. REALLY don't know what everybody is griping about. Pools are nice-one pool for small kiddies, one for family, and one lap pool, also hot tub. Yes there is a pool bar that u can walk up to very near pools. Sea World shuttle was very courteous and dependable. Also, they have a cookout nightly for about 12.00, if u like that stuff. We also enjoyed the BBQ joint right down the road-nothing fancy, but good BBQ brisket. Ignore bad reviews and give it a try.

Not a resort at all!!!

from frankinfrisco
The problems at this "hotel" start with the bad service. Upon check in (around 5-6) we were advised the the Jr Suite that we booked was not available (which I book directly at the hotel a week earlier) the staff was not over accomodation to even offer a valid explaination. Next we asked for a crib for our 3 month old and when it did finally arrive the mattress was a comforter balled up in crib sheet. I went to the staff to advise them of the huge safety hazard this was and they didn't seem too concerned ....they said they ran out of mattresses. hours later they brought a pack and play after my compalints. In the evening, kids can make smores by the fireplace (for $2 charge), well of course they ran out...when I and others asked the staff where we can get some they had no idea. Finally they arrive...with no annoucement. The last straw was upon check out...(noon) Since the baby was sleeping, I asked for a 1pm checkout and they said it will be $50. (Same guy who was dealing with me). This is not a "resort" it and avg. Hotel that want to be like the Hill Country Hyatt Resort. The pool is not that great and there is no drink or food service attentants to be found. The one pool bar they have is small and understaffed. Spend the extra money to stay across the street. You will be much happier!! I would never return!

Great weekend getaway

We have four children under the age of 8, they all had a wonderful time. We have stayed at both the Hyatt and Radisson. We enjoyed the peace at the Radisson.
I loved the beds and the kiddy pool was great for my toddlers. The shuttle service to Sea World is great!
We will definately be coming back to the Radisson.
Staff was great!

Nice place, service staff needs work

from TravHopper
Well, we decided to come here after a problem with another hotel. I highly recommend booking via Radisson because the difference for us was almost $100. The front desk was very accomodating and since they are COMPLETELY dead during the December-January months they gave us an upgrade to a king junior suite. But our upgrade to a suite was too small for our family. The rooms were nicely decorated, but cramped. Bathroom was large but we had to practically crawl over each other to get to it. I thought the hotel was very beautiful and I can see it would be great for a family trip to Sea World. The smores over the bonfires are a nice idea but they gave us stale crackers and marshmallows. The food and beverage service is problably the worst I have experienced. They leave the room service food laying in the hallways for days and addressing issues with a manager only gives you more stress as they tell you their "canned" apologies. They prefer to talk versus listen. I would say that if they can get their service polished, they have a shot at being a great place overall. Right now, I can only say that it is a nice, new place. Avoid the store (because there is nothing there) and the food and beverage scene and you should have a better time than we did. The pool area is nice but needs to be staffed properly to keep it clean. Someone spent alot of money to build this place and their staff is letting it get go to pot.

Top Local Tips for San Antonio

This is not the Real San Antonio area you read and see about If you are planning to visit San Antonio for the first time; do not stay in the Sea World/Lackland areas. Try to get to downtown area or as close as you can. There is so much more offered in the downtown area to include the RiverWalk.

Where to stay. Recommend river walk no matter where you are going.

Alamo Cafe If you have kids and are looking for a no-frills place to eat, try the Alamo Cafe. They offer burgers and sandwiches and absolutely texas sized mushroom caps although I would never serve them with white gravy myself. (Must be a southern thing!) The best part is they have a totally enclosed outdoor playground so you can eat outside while the kids play. More restaurants ought to do this; it shouldn't be a concept copyrighted just by fast food joints. The power was out while we were there but everyone seemed not to mind. The playground was empty as it was wicked stormy but there were video games, plenty of tvs, and lots and lots of loud conversation so nobody seemed to mind! Tip: bring cash. This is an order at the counter, cash only place.
