Hotel is right on a very busy road that has noisy large truck and bus traffic all night long. Also, there were some extremely loud and obnoxious drunks in the parking lot very late at night that the management did nothing about. Other than the restaurant behind the hotel, which closes pretty early, and the small, nasty "cigar bar" in the basement, there isn't anything close to this hotel.

Quirky But Nice

The rooms are lovely and well appointed, except for one very small room, with a bath that has only a shower and no tub, right behind the reception desk--that room is noisy. There's one fabulous room with a Jacuzzi and a charming anteroom that serves as a sitting room. The beds are comfortable. The staff is polite and responsive. But piped -in music in the halls is sometimes so loud I had to ask that it be turned down--or off, in the middle of the night! And the room service is spotty--sometimes it exists, sometimes not. A portion of oatmeal for one the first day I ordered breakfast was enough for four; the second day it was a paltry portion out of Dickens' Oliver Twist. The service on the hotel's side porch--breakfast, lunch, snacks, is sometimes wonderful, sometimes maddeningly slow. But the staff remains cheerful and responsive when one asks for something. The location is good, though late at night the walk down the last stretch of the Riverwalk alone can be daunting and a bit sketchy.
