A beautiful top 4 star hotel, attentive service and luxe accommodations were already expected, but I was truly pleasantly surprised at the amount of attention to detail that Omni provided that made work a little bit more pleasurable. As a member of their guest loyalty program, I enjoyed little perks such as complimentary wireless internet in my room and a beverage of my choice in the morning. Another very thoughtful memento that I received from Omni was a jar of Penzey's Pumpkin Pie Spice – the perfect reminder of Thanksgiving and the holiday season right around the corner. It is so refreshing to know that some hotels really place an importance on even the smallest of details. Sometimes, the best things can come in small packages too.

Great Hotel!

My industry association had small meeting at this hotel. Knowing the property was 25 years old, I was a little worried that it would be "tired." I found the rooms, public areas, meeting rooms and fitness area all to be in excellent condition. Service was extremely helpful and friendly. I had a good buffet lunch. My pancake breakfast was just "OK." The beds were very good. Be sure to sign up with Omni as a "Select Guest." You get free upgrades (I upgraded to a suite), as well as free morning beverages delivered to your room.

I set-up a romantic dinner and hotel room for my boyfriend and me. I wanted a nice evening because we seem to work all the time and needed a pampered time together. I made the hotel reservations, ordered a CD player for our room and talked with the Food and Beverage Manager about chocolate covered strawberries being delivered to our room later that evening. It was to be a great date.

To insure a smooth arrival I called the Onmi to make sure our room was ready, but it was not. We had to wait just a little while. That was o.k., not a big deal.

When making the reservation I had requested a smoking room, and on a floor above 15. It would give us a great view. Reservations said that it probably won’t be a problem. I was told when checking in that smoking rooms are only available on the first 6 floors. The room was lovely so I could deal with the lower floor situation.

They brought the CD player to the room and handed it to us at the door. Turns out it didn’t work very well though.

I wanted to have the turn-down bed service they offered, by request only. I phoned for service using their prompt service button. When I asked for the service their reprehensive told me that it had already been done. I replied that I was in the room and it had not. She huffed rudely and then transferred me security. When I tried to call back using the "prompt” service button no one answered. I tried calling back a couple of times but then gave up. They did provide this service after I brought it to the front desk clerk’s attention.

My boyfriend wanted to treat me to a Gondola Ride. The concierge said that we would have to call the company that handled the service; the hotel couldn’t call for us.
The Gondola Service never called us back.

My boyfriend and I live in the area and wanted to stay close-in. I work at night and still had to take the time to check on my employee's progress at a job site- near by. At 2:00 AM I dressed and went to the lobby and requested our car. They wouldn’t let me leave. They claimed that I was staggering, my eyes were red and had sluggish speech, thus indicated to them I was intoxicated. We retired to our room after dinner and some wine. WE arrived in the room early evening.

Maybe it’s because I just woke up was the reason for my red eyes and sluggish speech. Were red and my speech. The reason I may had a staggering was that my new shoes were killing me

Just a little later I was searching for the ice dispenser on my floor, not finding one promptly went to the lobby requested ice to be brought to our room. The three men behind the lobby’s desk told me I would find an Ice dispenser on the 7th or 5th floor, there wasn’t one on the 6th. Again I asked to please have some ice brought to my room. I was told that they weren’t allowed to do so.
The Manager decided to assist me, but I had to wait in the lobby while he went to the kitchen and got me my bucket of ice.

Edger, the Food and Beverage Manager provided us prompt and professional service.

the worst bed ever

We stayed one night at the Omni Mandalay at the end of June. We had reserved a non-smoking king suite. The staff was very courteous upon check-in. The room we were taken to smelled like smoke. They immediately gave us another room on the same floor. Due to the shape of the building, the suite is a peculiar oval shape with a lot of unusable space. The bed seemed to have a structural problem of some sort and creaked loudly with the slightest movement. The mattress was so uncomfortable. I wish I had taken a picture of the mattress pad, if you could even call it that. The only thing between the mattress and the mediocre sheet was an extremely thin mattress pad that was not attached in any way and slid around all night and caused the sheets to become untucked. When I complained about the creaky bed at check-out, they said they are going to replace the beds this summer. I wish they would replace the $270 we paid for such sub-standard bedding. If you decide to stay at the Omni this summer, I recommend checking out the bed before you unpack your bags!
The pool was very nice and well-kept.
We didn't try the restaurant. (We had a great dinner at Ciudad. For breakfast, we walked about 2 blocks to a deli that had breakfast sandwiches.)
By way of comparison, we spent the next night in the Ozarks and paid $71 for a very clean and comfortable room with a great bed with great pillows. The following night we spent $175 for The Peabody in Memphis and found the bed extremely comfortable--the kind of quality the Omni should have provided.

Perfect Hotel for our Wedding Night!

My wife and I stayed in one of the Hotel suites on our wedding night and let me tell you, It was perfect!. The staff was very nice and the service was wonderful. I would stay there again in a minute. If you are looking for a real classy, comfortable, overnight stay. You need to look into the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas.

This place is a lil hiddin treasure. Ive' been to Vegas and not did not get this good of treatment. Everything was excellent. Roomservice, restraurants, every single employee that spoke was very cordial and offered to help w/ bags or just say hello.

We will be back this place is awesome.

I travel from New York on business to Irving quite often and I always stay at the Omni. It is by far the best hotel in the area. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the rooms are good size. The pool is great as well as the restaurants.

Having been in the OMNI for nearly one week in Jan 2005 I would recommend this hotel if you ara looking for a quiet but well located property. The rooms are spaceious, the staff is friendly and you find all facilities of a modern hotel. (Gym, Spa, buisinesscenter)
The hotel offers an outdoorpool right at the border of a lake.
You can easily reach downtown Dallas, Fort Worth, the airport and the interessing shoppingmalls.
You can not do something wrong while choosing the Omni.

My sisters and mother and I stayed at the Omni two weeks before Christmas 2004. It was great. I'm not sure where the person with holes in the sheets was staying but I can't believe it was the OMNI. We had both smoking and non-smoking rooms and both were wonderful. They were furnished and decorated beautifully. We heard nothing from other rooms. The service was friendly and helpful. I have inhalent allergies and I had NO problems.

The difference in price between the Omni and the Fours Seasons is big and should tell you something. If you want a 2 level Health Club, a championship golf course and resort type pool experience then you need to stay at the Four Seasons and know you are also going to shell out the really big bucks. If you want an above average quiet luxury hotel -- then the Omni is your best bet and more economical to boot. It is also, in my opinion much more conveniently located than the Four Seasons which is a "destination resort" type hotel buried in the depths of Las Colinas -- more in a residential area. The Omni -- closer to the heart of business Las Colinas -- is minutes away from several main arteries into and out of Dallas. It's just minutes from everywhere. As opposed to the Four Seasons where it can take you that long just to get to your car. You really can't compare them.

Since I'm usually in Dallas to "do Dallas" the golf course, health club etc. mean nothing to me and I am really put off by the BIGNESS of the Four Seasons. The smaller elegant Omni is perfect for ziping into Dallas and surrounding areas and gives me more money to spend at Northpark! I highly recommend it.

Very disappointed

This week I stayed at the Omni and was extremely disappointed! Prior to arrival I had requested a room in a quiet area and no perfumed products used in the room due to health problems. Neither of these were fulfilled. Upon arrival I found the front desk and concierge desk to be rude and not helpful. I then went to my room and the perfume smell was terribly strong, I could not stop coughing. I heard the people in the next room having a conversation the walls were so thin and old.
I heard doors slamming all during the night and the people in the room next to me had their television on until the wee hours.......you should not hear these types of things in nice hotels. There were stains on the carpets, holes in the sheets, the bed was like a rock, and the pillows were disgusting!
After a horrible night I was able to get a room at the Four Seasons where I normally stay......and of course had a wonderful time there!

As a former New Yorker now living in Oklahoma City ( 3 hours by car from Dallas ), I like to go to Dallas several times a year for leisure purposes. Having stayed at several 4 and 5 star properties in Dallas, I keep coming back to the Omni Mandalay. The Omni is located in Las Colinas which is about 10 minutes from DFW Airport and about a 15 minute drive to the lively West end area as well as being no more than 20 minutes from just about anything worthwhile. You must have a car if staying here. 90% of the time I stay in a Mandalay Suite which is one of the 4 corner rooms on each floor. It is basically a junior suite that only comes with a king size bed. Some come with sleeper sofas as well. 1 television in the living room and 1 in the bedroom . Telephone in the bathroom, next to the bed and 1 cordless/speaker phone on the desk in the living room. Very upscale full marble bathroom. Some with seperate stall shower from tub. Luxurious fabrics and furnishings. The staff are always so friendly, respectful and helpful. Join the Omni Select Guest program in advance and get a complimentary newspaper each morning as well as complimentary coffee, tea or juice or soda delivered to your room each morning! I've also stayed in their regular room which is either 2 large beds or a king and was very satisfied with it. All their rooms are extremely spacious. Had breakfast this morning at Trevi's on the lower level. Opted for the wonderful buffet breakfast. Our server Jeronimo was phenomenal. He genuinely seemed happy to serve us. I wish the maitre d gave us an option to sit outside as opposed to inside. We noticed people were having their breakfast outside when we were leaving the restaurant. The view of the lake and the weather was outstanding. Free self parking. Go in full confidence and allow yourself the pleasures of the Omni. Life is short and you deserve it!

Omni Mandalay is located in the heart of Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth Irving is the current home of the Dallas Cowboys. In 2009 Cowboys will play in a new $billion stadium in Arlington. Irving is close to the two major twin cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. In between the 2 bookend cities is Arlington, with a population of over $400,000. Arlington is the home of the Texas Rangers professional baseball team, 6 Flags, and University of TX Arlington. Several fast growing suburbs are Southlake, Grapevine, and Frisco, with great shopping, restaurants and other attractions. Unfortunately, you will need a car to get around in North TX. However, Dallas has a good rapid transit system called DART, which links to several of the suburbs. Try to visit Southfork ranch, the home of the Ewings on the "Dallas" TV show which is in syndication.

Try shopping at the Galleria Try the Galleria instead of Northpark shopping center. Northpark is interesting and has a lot of high end stores it's just a little old looking. It's not like South Coast Plaza in So Cal!
