The only remotely redeeming quality of this hotel is it's location, specifically if you have business with the Galleria. Otherwise, expect a bare bones, sloppy experience and careless customer service with a day rate out of proportion to the delivery. I was checked into a room that was not serviced, with a bathroom which was obviously used by the prior room occupant; half used bath products, soiled robe and towels, hair (not my own) in the tub and sink. Management was contacted and was passive and unhelpful, and the hotel was overbooked so there were no other rooms to check into. By the time I realized I was checked into an unserviced room it was 2am. It was a very hectic weekend in Houston, with many large events happening, so hotels were difficult to secure. The St. Regis and Hotel Derek were booked, aside from the inconvenience of checking out of the Westin and the tedium of changing hotels at 2:00 in the morning. This Westin daily rate was over $300/night including added taxes and service fees. The St. Regis, considerably more refined and customer service oriented, quoted comparable corporate rooms at $159. The Westin Galleria made daily errors in room service deliveries, inconsistent general service and unresponsive management. The business center is unaccommodating with very limited hours and slow, aimless service attendants. Because of its proximity, it appeals to "mall rat" teenagers, and because of the Starwood point system, discount hotel seekers. By virtue of its location, it is often sited for its convenience for (Galleria) business travellers. I will not choose to stay at this hotel again. It was a waste of money and time ($2200. for 5 nights.) Perhaps if I were paying $90 a day, I could see having to deal with the circumstances - the caliber of this Westin's product is in line with the day rate of a roadside motel. Do yourself a favor and research staying at one of the many neighboring hotels where you might actually receive the product and service you're paying for.
