Top Local Tips for Galveston

Restaurants There is a Rainforest Cafe, also Joes Crab Shack with playscape. Millers Landing was good local familly restaurant for breakfast. There is a nice public beach called Stewart Beach.

Other things away from Moody Gardens that we enjoyed We had dinner Thursday night at Mario's Ristorante and went back for the lunch buffet Friday... loved it! We also really liked China Island's buffet. The Ocean Star Oil Rig Museum was VERY interesting and well done. Get a FREE ride on the Galveston ferry (operates 24/7). We just walked aboard and went upstairs to enjoy the beautiful day and view. And we saw dolphins (at a distance)! East Beach was nearly empty and no one was collecting money to drive out there. The Peanut Butter Warehouse in the Strand District is full of interesting items from different eras (collectibles and knick-knack and flea market type stuff). We parked in a $5 lot but In retrospect, we would have parked somewhere and hopped on the trolley to get to the Strand.
