Great Preview to Dallas

I enjoyed a one night stay at the Omni. The staff was very courteous and helpful. My room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The best feature was the view of Dallas from the huge windows in my room -- inviting during the day and beautiful at night. The pool area and lanai seating was very nice. I'd stay there anytime I travel to Dallas.

Not Quite As Promised

My wife and I enjoyed the hotel and the room was wonderful. However, we choose the hotel based on their advertised Sunday Morning Champange Brunch. However, there no Brunch served. We were told it had been stopped for weeks.

Nice Hotel but...

In Short - Nice hotel, but the AC is poor.

Check-in was fast as there was no-one in line. Lobby area is large and spacious, but nothing spectacular. Rooms are well appointed, but certainly not the largest rooms you've seen. Beds are soft, and have plenty of pillows. Bathrooms are fine but again nothing special. The water is very hot. The almost useless air conditioning meant I had to keep the drapes closed during my entire stay. I left the thermostat on the lowest setting (something like "50" or "60") and the fan on "hi", yet the room never got cold, only somewhat-acceptably cool.
Wireless internet usually worked well, and the tv had a decent channel selection, although we lost half of the channels one night for a while unexplicably.
Note that there were no vending machines (at least on my floor), only an ice machine. So if you want something late you'll have to order room service (20% service charge plus $3 delivery) or go to the minibar (mine was locked, not that I planned on using it...)
The restaurant downstairs, Dovers Grill, was decent. Not great, but not bad. I recommend the filet, but stay away from the crab cakes. Typically priced for a hotel, so average dinner for one would be around $40 or so.
Nice location on Luna Rd, with easy access to shops on Mcarthur and not far from the Galleria mall.
Overall, 3/5 but were it not for the air conditioning problem, I would have given 4/5.

The Omni was a little disappointing

1) I tried to get an early check-in at 2 pm. The room was not ready until 3:30 pm.

2) I checked my luggage with the bellman and went outside to wait. When my room was finally ready, the bellman was gone. I waited at the bellman's stand for ten minutes and no one showed up and the front desk was not concerned. Finally I hunted around and found my own bag. It was sitting by the hotel entrance with six others and nobody was paying attention to the luggage. I helped myself to my bag and went up stairs. What is the point of checking your bag if it is left out in the open with no attendant???

3) The whole floor I was on had BAD BREATH! P.U. It was a horrible last week's pizza and beer smell.

4) There are no restaurants in the imediate area except for the hotel restaurant. The hotel restaurant was okay but, I was there for three days and would like to have had a choice of restaurants.

5) Some of the staff at the front desk were nice. They must have had a 5 pm shift change and that group was rude.

6) The mattress was old and sank to one side.

Otherwise, it was your average two star hotel. Do not get your expectations up and you will be fine here. If you expect $125 worth of hotel room, you will be disappointed. This hotel is a good value at the $75 per night price if you can live with the negative features mentioned up above.

I read all of the reviews before I booked the room and I was not disappointed. This place is close to Dallas, the airport, and Irving. There are not really any interesting restaurants or shopping close by, but that was not a concern for me. I did ask the concierge where I could get a manicure and she made a reservation at the Omni Mandalay, only about 5 minutes away. Had no problems finding it and had a really nice experience there. The room was lovely, had robes, coffee service, movies, and HBO. We really enjoyed a walk around the lake on the well maintained path. The hotel was not at all busy, but the staff, nonetheless, were friendly and accommodating. Really great value for the weekend price, $79. for a double room. The hotel needs renovating, but they have plans to do this soon, and it is not so bad that it affects your experience. You'll be happy to stay here.

Misrepresentation

We booked three hotel rooms, w/two double beds. We made our reservations six weeks in advance. When we checked in, we were informed that we would not receive what we reserved, because we did not call to confirm. We had the confirmation page that was sent to us. They gave us cots, instead. Blatant misrepresentation!

Solid Four Diamond Hotel

The Omni at Park West is everything you would expect from a AAA Four Diamond hotel. Good service, quality amenities, and large (but not oversized), tastefully decorated, clean rooms. Free WiFi is also a nice touch when so many higher end hotels seem to insist on charging as much as $10 a day (when the Holiday Inn Express offers it for free). The hotel is situated right on I-635, about halfway between DFW airport and downtown, which makes it a good location for those interested in making stops at places like Grapevine Mills and Six Flags as well as downtown Dallas. While we weren't blown away by our visit, the Omni was everything we needed, with a few little extra touches that made it unique.
Also, be sure to get directions to Mercado Juarez for some amazing Mexican food. It's not the closest restaurant to the hotel, but it's not far, and it's definitely worth the extra couple minutes in the rent-a-car.

I chose the Omni Dallas at Park West after a lot of research, most based on Trip advisor. I was not dissappointed. The inside is stunning. Huge lobby, and generally impressive ground floor.
The room was large, clean and very pleasant.
The staff were extremely helpful when we needed them.
Parking was free and there is plenty of it.

The location was perfect for us. It is some way from the centre of Dallas, about 15miles, but as we were going to the NFL, the baseball, Dallas city centre (for the JFK museum and Reunion Tower) and Dallas Fort Worth Airport, it is superbly located in between all these places.
There are a huge number of eating places within 1 to 2 minutes drive, and the 3 we went to were really nice, very inexspensive, family friendly places.

For those that dont know Dallas, you need a car to get anywhere, and the food portions are just huge.

Overall nice property

I went to this property on 07/23/2005 based on the reviews that I read on the property. Because I work for an online hotel booking agency I hear horrible stories about hotels that before I check into a hotel I always ask the front desk if I can check out the room first. The hotel check in time is 3:00 PM and I arrived at this hotel well after 3:00 PM...say 7:30'ish to be told that I could not view "MY" room that I had booked because it was not ready. Now I understand what our customers complain about when they say they arrive at the hotel and their room was not ready at the time indicated to check-in. We waited by the front desk for about 15minutes and scoped out the property, which is a very nice property, up to date and very clean. We went up to our room which was very clean, but I had one problem, the tv does not face the bed and you cannot turn it so that you can watch television. You basically have to lay on the edge of the bed or sit in the recliner to view the television, how much of an inconvenience if you are trying to relax. The front desk agent indicated that all of the rooms are made like that and he apologized. Knowing there wasn't much that he could do. But overall, this property is nice and clean and has a great pool area. The lobby and waterfalls are beautiful and the rooms are clean. I did not stay the hotel and for the price $89.10 it is an ok property to stay at. Minus the negatives which are few from what I saw I would recommend ths property. Trust me I am a picky person when it comes to were I have to lay my head.

t Look Too Close

I was looking forward to my first stay at the relatively new Dallas Omni, as I have been pleased with the service and amenities at other Omni locations I've stayed at. The first thing you will notice about the hotel is the free parking in the attached garage, a welcome change to what I've experienced at many other Dallas area hotels. Initally, the lobby appears very nice--just don't look too close, as it will become apparent that the facility was built seeking a high-end look at the lowest possible cost. It's not the fake marble columns in the lobby that bother me, it is the odd room layout, cheap furniture, small bathroom and 19 inch television (with limited channel selection) that do. The staff was eager but somewhat unpolished. On check-in, I was given a card where I could select which paper I would like to have delivered to my room, with the choices being between the USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and the local paper. I chose the Wall Street Journal and the local paper, but was delivered the USA Today. Why bother asking if you aren't going to follow through? One robe in the closet. What if there are two of us? Overall, the hotel fell short for me--I wanted to like it, but it doesn't really qualify for a full 4-star rating in my book.

Omni 4-Star Beautiful hotel and price...

We stayed for an extended weekend at the Omni Dallas in June 2005. We found the hotel to be a wonderful getaway with the kids. The rooms were clean, nicely appointed, and a nice size for our family. The pool area was beautiful, the gym and spa were well above average. There was always plenty of towels and everything was kept clean. On Saturday nights during the summer, they have a kids party and movie at the pool. They served popcorn and chips. The kids loved it and the parents still could relax poolside. Cocktails were available poolside as well. The hotel parking was free which is now rare in 4 star metro hotels. There was a jogging track around a lake next to the hotel that looked very nice. We will stay here again when visiting Dallas.

My husband and I arrived at the Omni Hotel Park West and was surprised of how elegant the hotel seemed. We walked into the beautiful lobby, checked in and received out room keys extremely quick, and made our way to the suite. The suite was great and had all our amentities that we requested. The staff was extremely nice and willing to help if we needed anything. I have to say that the Omni Hotel Park West is by far one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and we will be returning when we travel to Dallas again.

Top Local Tips for Dallas

Saving a Lot of Bucks Always inquire with the hotel if they offer a discount for state/federal employees. I was really surprised that I got this surprisingly excellent and updated room at the Omni for only $85 while Marriott gave me a quote for $199 for their dated and dirty room (see separate pics). I loved the Omni Park West... I've stayed at various hotels and this is by far one of the best. Their breakfast buffet is also very affordable and room service is excellent.

Dallas World Aquarium Save your money fee for two $40.00 and to park $5.00. It may excite children if they've never been to an aquarium. But I've seen better In restaurants. It took us 1 hour to walk through only because we were in denial of how we got ripped off. It was all a bunch of hype about nothing.
