Nice Rustic Feel Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
The place is still undergoing some work but my overall impression was it was very nice. All new pillow top Queen beds. The indoor pool is great for the younger kids that love to water slide (inside). The rustic wood log trim gives a cabin atmosphere. You can tell the age of the place but it had new floors and paint inside and out. I would go back next time I go to the area. We had two rooms and both were nice. They could use some more seating in the pool inclosure, but all was very nice.

t let the slides fool you!

This was a last minute trip and my family and I only had reservations for two of the three nights that we stayed in Pigeon Forge. We shopped around for a nice room and after checking several places we decided to stay at the River Chase because we thought our 3 year old would love the indoor slide. We looked at the pool and the room we would be staying in and thought it would be okay-only because we liked the slide. What a disappointment! The pool was so cold that it was impossible to let our 8 month old swim and our other daughter would barely get in. I asked if the temperature could be turned up and was told it would make the water too hot and it would take too long(the lady was slightly rude). The room was very small and the bathrooms were horrible! The water would get hot and cold during a shower and there was mold around the very outdated fixtures. The toilet also had black streaks inside(not sure if it was stains or mold). We have been going to the Smokies every year for the past 3 years and plan to go back, but we will never stay at this place again!

Renovations Are Coming...Due to a Fire!!!

from Kat_Cubs_fan
For those of you who were anxiously awaiting renovations at the River Chase Motel in Pigeon Forge, you're waiting days are soon to be over. The vast majority of the motel burned down on April 25, 2005, causing about 70 guests to be driven from their rooms at about 3:00 AM.

The owners say they plan on rebuilding, but it will probably be Fall, 2005 before the motel opens again. Hopefully, while they are in the process, they will renovated the entire place and upgrade all the facilities.

Looks like there was a fire..........

My husband just called me from the road, on the way to Dollywood with our high school band, we were considering the River CHase for a family vacation before we read the reviews. He said the motel was fine last night when they passed it, but this morning it looked like it had caught on fire last night and was gutted with yellow tape everywhere.

Maybe they will get some much needed renovation, if they reopen.

kids love it

I just got back from staying in gatlinburg/pigeon forge we stayed at the river chase. well regardless of others opinions we had a BLAST! Me and my son loved the water slide and warm indoor pool. All hotels have something you don't like in the room like a hair in the bathtub or something. But you have to remember there are different people in and out everyday. I was very grateful to have found this hotel because me and my son have priceless memories we'll cherish forever. the beds were'nt very soft but my main goal wasn't to come to pigeon forge for a soft bed it was for fun and I definantly had that. there was NO smell in our room or mold on our ceiling like the other review said. And they leave the bible in the room open on the table which is more than I can say for most hotels who just leave it in the drawer. It also had a cabin-feel to it with all the woodwork, I thought it was cute. I will be going back!

Roach motel with water slide!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Me my husband, and two kids ages 9 & 6 just got back from vacationing here. If you like moldy ceilings in the bathroom, un-vacuumed floors, low lighting, refrigerators that freeze EVERYTHING, shower heads that pull about a foot out of the wall, absolutely no water pressure in the showers, and shower water that goes from scalding hot to freezing cold in a matter of a second then this is the place for you my friend!!! It was NASTY!! I lost my keys and we were trying to find them, my husband moved the cedar chest thing, and you should have saw the crap under there. Candy, change, hair balls, dust bunnies, all kinds of nasty stuff. Thank goodness my keys weren't ther because if they had been, I would have just left them there!!! We only stayed because the kids were soooo excited about the water slide. We spent a total of $268.00. They saw us coming is all I gotta say. If you value your health, do not stay here. I heard the Travel Lodge is a good one to stay in. Heard it has an indoor pool with a lazy river around it. Also heard it's cheaper! Will be staying there next time. Good luck!

I totally agree! worst hotel ever

from laall4u2
I have to agree with everyone...the hotel is awful. Beds hard as rocks and broke down. No water pressure. Dirty out side, roach powder down under the sink. no hot water. Done let the 100ft water slide fool you... kids loved it but pool is very small and not that clean in the pool area... some shady looking people working there. Never again...we were there over new years eve. We usually stay at leconte view in gatlinburg...i guess we shouldve this time too.

The River Chase Motel is THE WORST place that I have ever stayed!!! After reading the other reviews, I realize that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I just came back from Pigeon Forge, which my husband and I love to visit and we always have had a wonderful experience until now. My husband, his entire immediate family, and I, all came down for the Dixie Stampede Christmas show, so we wanted a hotel close. That's where the weekend took a wrong turn. We had made the mistake of booking three rooms at the River Chase. When arriving at the motel, it looked nice. Once in our rooms, we quickly realized we were just ripped off. My husband and I were sharing a room with his mother, sister and nephew, so we had to pay more for the room, about eighty dollars. The rooms had such a bad oder, my mother-in-law and nephew left to stay with another family member across town. There was only two double beds with blood stained comforters and and the mattresses were very old and stained. The sheets were old and very worn. There was and iron burn on the floor and no rug on the tile bathroom floor. Being that we were disatisfied and the fact that we had only been there for five mnutes we decided to get our money back and go to another hotel. But when we ask for a refund we were denied because we had reserved it and they had my brother-in-law's credit card number. The general manager Robert, if that's his real name, got very rude and mean, and abosolutely refused to refund the money. So we had to stay there anyway, simply because we would each lose eighty dollars if we didn't. The the next morning, ther was no hot water at all in our section of the building so we had no way to shower. Not once were we offered a refund. The manager told us that he could not refund our money because our comlaint was only an opinion. I thought that was what counted when you run a business that serves the public. The towels were so small, even if we had got to shower, we would have never got ourselves dry!!!. It's a shame that this poor excuse of a motel is allowed to stay open and it's even worst that these people are gettingaway with ripping off unknowing tourist, like they did our family. I personally advise and even urge people not to waste their money on staying at the River Chase Motel because it has to be the nastiest place to stay in Pigeon Forge!!! I would hate to see anything worse.

use to be great

My family and I have stayed at River Chase on several occassions and was pleased with it. It has been several years since we've been there and I don't know what has happened to it but judging from the reviews it has gone to pieces we are going to Tennessee in November and was planing on staying there but after the reviews i've scared to see it so my stay plans may have to change unless someone who stayed recently can reassure me that they've made some major improvements as far cleanliness and costumer service.

Top Local Tips for Pigeon Forge

alamo restaurant Best steakhouse you will find in the area. We have eaten there each time we have visited the Pigeon Forge area. Not cheap, but well worth the money for the food and service.

COUPONS Be sure to scope out all the welcome centers , the main ones that is to get coupon books for attractions like go carts and such it will save you a little money and on the restraunts as well. Some welcome centers our just to get you in to try a cabin rental or some kind of time share but that isn't at the main big ones. Be sure and try to find a motel with free cont. breakfast too if your trying save money.
