Don't Stay!

We arrived on Friday at 4pm. AFter checking in, we set the AC to high, closed the drapes and left for the evening. When we returned, our room was at least 80 degrees! We called the front desk and was promised that maintenance was on the way. They never showed up! We called and asked for a fan... same story, we'll send one up... no fan.

The next morning, we received no apology... and had to fight to get a $9 refund on a $90 bill! The man ahead of me got $3 off! I didn't care about the money... I wanted my family to be comfortable.

The front desk manager on Saturday morning was a scruffy, unshaved 25 year old with no name badge and no uniform. He was rude!

Also in case you have allergies, beware of Shower Mold!

Never again!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I must say that ours was anything but good. Made a reservation and upon checking in I thought the place looked great. No need to go up and see the room before bringing up the luggage. Mistake!!! The place was obviously much older than I thought and in need of some maintenance and a good cleaning. The so called suites were two double beds and a loveseat in one room. The carpet was very stained with large dirty spots. The toilet had not been cleaned well - some nasty splatter around the bowl. Hair in the sink. Called the front desk and they said we were checked in for more than 15 minutes so I could not check out. It didn't matter that it took more than 15 minutes to park the car and bring up the luggage. They did let me move to another room but it wasn't much better. The carpet was darker so the stains didn't show up as much. There was toothpaste splash on the bathroom counter. The towels and wash cloth were super thin. No hand towels. The beds were uncomfortable. No blankets on the beds. The balcony door did not lock. Generally a low class place with an upper-class price of $99. If I had not made a reservation it would have been $119. I'll never go back and I will never let the good looks of the lobby keep me from going up first to inspect the room.

Nasty Pools and false advertising

from A TripAdvisor Member
I agree with what everyone else has been saying about the false advertsing. The sign advertised that all rooms were $49.95 but when you went in and asked for one they advised that they only had suites left and they would be $69.95. Well, of course, it's a gimmick, I don't even think they have any of their so called "standard" rooms and the suites are not like suites, they are as small as any other "standard" room that I have ever seen. When we checked out there was a long line so I know they would have had "standard" room vacancies but someone came in and inquired and they were also told that they only had suites. My biggest complaint is that the pools were nasty. I have a small child that was excited about the indoor and outdoor pool but the water in the pools and jacuzzi looked very dirty and around the edges and sides of pool it was crusty and slimy and dirt and debris was in the water around the edges and step area - you couldn't even see the bottom of the pool. I was afraid that my child would get a disease in the pool but after we had paid, I had no choice and I couldn't tell my child that she couldn't swim. The hotel staff was not hateful but not very friendly, I went to ask a question about additional coffee in the room, they were talking about a personal matter and ignored me for a few minutes and then I coudn't believe this, they said an extra "little package" of room coffee would be .50 cents and that they would add it onto our bill - I have never ever been charged for additional room coffee at any other hotel. Other than all this, the rooms were clean and the lady that cleaned our room was very nice but we will probably not stay there again if they do not start cleaning their pools.

Horrible Customer Service; Refusal to speak with a manager; overcharged

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was the worst service I have ever recieved at a hotel. We stayed on July 14 and 15th. We called down on the night of the 15th for a 9 am wakeup call for the morning of the 16th. Luckily we are light sleepers; because we never got the wake up call. When we went down stairs to check out and my husband mentioned about the fact there was no wakeup call; the girl didn't say anything; not even sorry. After we got home today, I checked our bank account to see if the charge was on there yet. Oh yes it was; They told us that the charge for the room was 78. 17 was charged to the card and that is the reciept my husband signed; the bank account said they actually charged 99.80 (which caused us to be overdrawn). Well my husband called them to find out what was going on with the over charge. He asked to speak with a manager. They told him one wasn't available that he would have to call back on monday!!! Can you believe they don't have somekind of manager on duty at all time? Something sounds fishy here. I would recommend that you not stay here. Unless you like to be overcharged and given lie after lie.

Worse Day of My Life!!!

We stoped because the sign said all rooms 69.99 suites 89.99. Of course they only had "suites" left. We checked in got the kids out of the car and went to the room. What a suite, it was a small room with 2 beds, NOTHING like a suite, the toilet was broke and the balcony view was a roof. We went to ask for our money back. The refused, I have never been to a hotel that wouldn't give a refund. They gave us a new "suite". Again it was only a room with 2 beds. This time the phone was broke into pieces. The other hotels in the area had the same prices on suites and they were really suite, 2 beds, large room, and a jacuzzi.

Great hotel, great price

from A TripAdvisor Member
It was our first trip to Pigeon Forge as a family with two young kids. We stayed five nights at the hotel and started out with a room with two doubles and switched to a room with a king and a pull out. It was clean with a large private balcony and very hospitable service. We loved it and would compare it favourably to hotels we stayed at for more than double the price. The location, price and quality was excellent and we will be back again for sure.

Our first time to the Lodge

The Lodge is a very nice place. Although we didn't stay there, we went to a Gospel concert held there and it was a very nice facility. Keep up the good work.

It must have changed

from pkgobble
I stayed there a couple of years ago....My sister came up from Birmingham and we had reservations at Mountain Trace....After we spent the night at mountain trace she saw the national parks lodge and said she bet it was nice....we went up there and requested to see a room and they said that they were full and cldn't show me one....This shd have been an omen to me...I always look at rooms...well we left mountain trace and checked in there and it was a dump...nasty...we were so said on it sign free breakfast and we soon found out that only one free breakfast per room....i have seen that it has now been changed to another name....maybe they have cleaned up their act....i will check it out the next time i go back.....

This is by far the best motel I've ever stayed in. Very clean, nice accomodations, Great American Steak Buffet was great! We stayed in the off-season and the room was only $24.95/night! It was unbelieveable! The next time we go to Pigeon Forge, this is where me and my family will be staying.

Not bad, for the price

from Kayakroll
My mother and I were going to Pigeon Forge for a shopping spree and decided to get a hotel based on the price on the marquee. We saw several priced at $25 and came upon the NPR for the same, and decided to check in. We, too, had a "nice" view of some construction below (we were on the top floor), and we could also see some of the holiday lights on the main drag. The room was clean, but oddly, some of the table lamps were unplugged, and none of the lamps had three way bulbs and were not really bright enough to read by. I guess they have to cut costs somewhere. It was a bit noisy at night when everyone "came home" as well as in the morning, but otherwise was fine. The staff was fine at all times. Bathroom was nice and clean. The log furniture was cool. TV, microwave and fridge were all plugged in and working nicely. Didn't swim - atrium for the indoor was cool and the pool looked dark and uninviting. We'd stay there again potentially - except that some of the hotels further "up" the road were charging only $17/night. :)

AWFUL customer service and NOT clean

from A TripAdvisor Member
December 23, 2004
We just got home and I had to sit down and write this review. When we got to Pigeon Forge on Tuesday night, December 21, 2004 it was around 10pm. We had seen the NPR hotel from previous visits and thought from the exterior that it would be a great place to stay. When I went in the lobby it was a bit busy but not out of the ordinary. The girl at the front desk was great and I got our room quickly. I have 2 small children and took them on up to the room to settle them for the night. The furniture was beautiful and the room looked very clean; HOWEVER, that was BEFORE I checked the bathroom. The tub had not been cleaned and had what looked to be about 7 inch long hair in it. I had to get a rag and clean it the best I could. I really did not want to have to take the kids out and have someone come and clean it. To make matters worse about 2:30 again around 4:45 there was running and jumping going on, on the floor above us to the extent it woke me up. Then at 6:30 dogs and more dogs were barking and woke my kids up. When I went to check out and asked to speak with the manager I was informed she was off and would not be available til the next day. We went and got another room at a different hotel. I called the NPR hotel back on Thursday and asked to speak with the manager. Before the lady would even transfer me she asked a number of questions that should NOT have been asked of a customer especially one who calls and asks to speak with a manager. After telling the lady I would really rather speak with the manager, I was placed on hold. The same lady returned and told me the manager could not come to the phone. I became a bit upset and told her that I could not believe the manager would not take the call especially when there was a complaint. I asked this lady her name which she refused to give but did tell me she was the resort group Sales manager. This shocked me even more. She was rude and hung up the phone on me!!! I called back left my name and number to have the manager call and still have not heard from the manager. This is the worst customer service I have ever received.
