Love Nashville - Just Not This Hotel
from ella-chicagoI have read other reviewers talking about rooms being renovated, but obviously ours was not. Our room, and hallway, smelled like someone had sprayed an over abundant amount of some kind of air freshner, I can still almost smell it. The room itself was large and if it was up-to-date and/or clean, would have been acceptable. The wallpaper was peeling up, the floors in the bathroom were dirty, the bedding smelled, it just was not a comfortable feeling staying there.
The breakfast that they served looked ok, but honestly after staying in our room we really didnt want to try eating food that came from the hotel.
I would say if you do not want to spend the money that Opryland charges, stay somewhere like Country Suites which was next door and looked pretty nice.
Great Shuttle Service
from JA007Saved lots of money on cab fair or rent car because of the very proactive shuttle service to and from airport and to and from Gaylord Opryland.
Great hotel to stay at if you don't want to pay $129.00 plus room rates at Opryland properties.
Just okay....stay at the Gaylord Center across the street
from alabamagirlThe room we were put in was 416 and it was in bad need of repair/renovation. My parents had stayed at this particular Amerisuites before and stated that they had a very nice renovated room only a year and a half ago. The room we were given was not up to par. The wallpaper was coming off the walls, the sink and fixture was old and hard to use, the bathroom ceiling had stains, the water pressure was low, carpet looked old, TV was outdated and only had about 20 channels, etc. We did not have a chance to use the pool on our stay as it was unusually cold over the weekend, so I cannot comment on it. The room was clean on our second day when we got back to the room.
We will pay the extra $$ and stay at the Gaylord across the street on our next weekend trip.

from traveldude9typical amerisuites - decent and well priced
from titch01Duration of stay Aug 15 2005– 3 nights
Location - Opryland area- fairly easy to get too, though there are major interstate and exit road works going on in the area right now and it looks like these will last for some considerable time. (Even for me as a UK driver used to driving on the opposite side of the road we managed to survive the roadwork so don’t let that put you off but maybe just plan in more time for the airport journey etc)
The hotel is in a quiet location next to Comfort suites and nearby Gaylord’s Opryland resort.
Amenities immediately nearby include a gas station, liquor store and a small convenience store and restaurant. Short walk or drive to Opryland - 20 minute walk at least to the Opry Mall and the Grand ole Opry.
There are a couple of museums (Willy Nelson and Friends and Wax Museum) within a 10 minute or less walk.
Description - Pleasant, clean forecourt and parking lot area - looks well tended from the outside and feels safe.
All rooms accessible from internal corridors and feels very safe.
Facilities
The reception/lobby area is clean and airy and is where the free hot breakfast is served daily. Free breakfast is very good and sets you up for the day. (They also serve all day coffee/tea etc and free fresh hot popcorn in the evenings.)
The swimming pool is at the rear of the hotel quite secluded and a decent size. Pool area was very clean and although the water temp was rather cool the pool was immaculate. Pool towels provided so no need to use room towels.
There is a guest self service laundry facility on the ground floor – while we were there the dryer was broken but we could use the facilities at the comfort suites so very handy as we were travelling for 22 days and were relying on laundry facilities!
For evening meals you really need to trek to the Opry Mall area where there are a few decent chain restaurants like Macaroni Grill, etc.
The hotel staff, in the main, were friendly although could try a little harder as they seemed almost bored checking people in/out.
A shuttle bus is provided to cover the airport and Opryland Hotel area.
Difficult to get to downtown without own transport - we got a taxi for flat rate $22 - not bad for 4 people but becomes pricey if group smaller.
Room
The room, accessible by internal corridor is a suite style partially divided into living and sleeping with small kitchenette, sofa, chair and desk and desk chair. The bed was large clean and comfy.
If you have ever stayed in an Amerisuites you can picture the layout of the room as they are all the same really!!!
The bathroom was typical hotel layout, slightly small but clean and adequate.
Overall
This is a good hotel in a safe area and if you are staying in the Opryland area it is probably the best of the budget bunch.
The next and only step up is the Gaylord Opryland Hotel for those that need more of a resort complex.
Point to note - unless you are an avid country fan who wants to cover every bit off country museum and history you might get bored in this area quickly - we stayed 3 nights and found that enough time to cover the highlights
Good value

from missaliciaTop Local Tips for Nashville
Gaylord Opryland You have to go here, it's the most amazing hotel complex I've ever seen. Top tip - stay at the Hyatt Place as they do free transport to and from Gaylord Opryland, and as Gaylord charges approx $300 for a room with a view, you will have more to spend at the Jack Daniels restaurant on those fabulous JD hot wings!
Shuttle From Opryland area hotels to downtown Even if not staying at Opryland hotel, you can take advantage of a comfortable shuttle bus takes you round trip from hotels to downtown for ~ $12 round trip. Much cheaper than a taxi and after visiting all the bars on Broadway, much cheaper than a DUI. Less thana 30 minute ride on a comforatble bus.
