Yes this works
from Buddie-Paisley
My wife two sons (21 & 18) and I spent two nights at the HIE. It's billed as the largest in the world and is without doubt very well finished. Easy to walk to major attractions in the downtown area. Lots of eating places some tucked in beside the office buildings. Really nice French bistro on Church Street.
Hotel reception staff are great and kept busy. I asked for directions to visit the Grand Ole Oprey and they ended up getting the family tickets for the Friday night show which was the next day. Internet access available in the large foyer. Car parking both above and below ground with all night security. Our boys said the pool was great even although it was busy. My guess is that this will see lots of business/convention traffic as the main type of guest.
Had a bit of a problem with the lock on the room door but it got fixed very quickly. Used the safety deposit boxes at reception and had no problems.
Because it is located close to the motorway visiting other attractions by car is easy.

Great value for money
from Tim_the_Taf
Stayed there july 25 to 28th 2005. Good location, easy 10 minute walk to Broadway/ 2nd, just off the interstate. Useful outdoor pool, free PC's with web access, good free breakfast, easy free parking. Rooms are also fine for the money. We paid $80 + tax per night - great value. If you want to go to Nashville (to be fair there's not much there), look no further.
Clean friendly hotel

Stayed here for CMA fan fest. Room was clean and high speed internet connection in the rooms. Most places are in good walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine for continental and despite the huge crowds for breakfast during the CMA fest., the staff kept things filled. Free Parking is a plus. I'd easily stay here again. The only drawback is no restaurant but there were several nearby that delivered.
OK hotel, but nonexistent customer service
from A TripAdvisor Member
There were a number of problems, most of them at checkin. The line was long (a 15 min wait for each of the THREE times we had to wait in it) Our first room, although designated nonsmoking, reeked of smoke. So down to the long checkin line to ask to be moved. We were given keys to another room which did not reek of smoke, but which was already occupied! So back down to the front desk. The third room was decent. But it took over an hour to get it! The staff was unprofessional in handling our request to be moved, and most troubling, very unconcerned they had given us a key to an occupied room. On the second day, we called for our room to be made up at 11 am, and when we returned at 3 pm, it was still unmade. Very disappointing as we wanted to take a quick nap and freshen up before going to a wedding, the purpose of our trip. No express check-out bill was placed under our door on our last night, requiring us to wait in line to check out. This hotel does NOT deserve to call itself holiday inn express. The customer service is TERRIBLE.
Great price and great location
from A TripAdvisor Member
We couldn't have asked for any more from this hotel. We expected something a lot more basic for the price. But it was on a par with some of the expensive hotels that we stayed in on our tour of the Deep South. Its location was great for a fun night out on the town in Nashville and the free breakfast the following morning was a good tonic.
Great Stay

My husband and I spent 2 nights here over the Nashville Marathon week-end as we were running in the events. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay ! The hotel is clean and comfortable and in an excellent location to all the atttractions downtown. We were only a few minutes walk from the Convention Center and the Gaylord Entertainment Building. The bars and restaurants were just a few more minutes away than that so we didn't have to get in the car at all !
It was very well catered for in regards to the runners so that our stay was enjoyable and tailormade. It was also in the perfect perfect location to the Start and Finish Line.
Very highly recommended.

Very Satisfied
from cross_checked23
They say it's the largest Holiday Inn Express in the world. This place seemed more like a 3 star hotel to me. Very large continental breakfast area. The selection of food isn't great, but plenty of seating. The cinnamon rolls were warm and exceptional. Gift store with food and snacks, spacious lobby, 2 high speed internet computers in the lobby (for those without a laptop). The rooms were fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable. I've stayed at really nice hotels before where the bed was terrible. I didn't drive but free parking looked convenient. I stayed because of a convention (at the convention center). They will shuttle you in the downtown area for free, but it was also an easy walk...Just about 3 or 4 blocks. To me this was just a decent place to stay at a pretty good price. If I go back next year, I'd stay again.
My Opinion--Way Over Priced
from mrspakrat
As I walked in the door of this hotel I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach. The thought of paying $147 including the tax for a room there was upsetting to me--I reckon I'm on the thrifty side but I don't mind paying for something special. There is nothing special about this hotel. Before we turned down the covers I was wishing we were somewhere else. It's an OK hotel but a room at the Music Row Best Western was much better and half the price. The lobby is the best looking part of the hotel. The carpet in the hallways to our room had lots of stains. The room was very ordinary with tiny double beds. No table with chairs in case you might want to relax with a beverage or snack in the room. There is a work desk with a chair. The bathroom that is adverised as having a "marble counter" is actually very plain. The coffee pot is in the bathroom--yuk--and there was spilled sugar on that "marble" counter that had been there for a while(sticky). The towels were nice and fluffy--that's a plus. Please be aware that this Holiday Inn Express does not have a restaurant or lounge. The reservation person told me that the hotel was in easy walking distance to many restaurants. Be warned... To get to the downtown restaurants you have to walk several blocks. It's all downhill going but if you have a problem walking uphill you had better drive or take a taxi. The hotel does offer a free shuttle in the evening. That's a plus if you can plan within their hours of operation. If you plan to book a hotel in the downtown area of Nashville I would suggest checking with others--and there are several nearby. You might get a better hotel for your 140+ dollars.
Great Time
from A TripAdvisor Member
We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Broadway in Nashville. We had problems of noice from the room next to us about 3a.m. but staff looked after it. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was good. We were there to go to the Ryman Aud. and we enjoyed the performance.
Great choice for business
from sailsail
I never would have considered a two star hotel without the mostly positive tripadvisor comments - and I agree this hotel is a great bargain. My room was very clean and everything seemed updated and fresh. The internet access in the room, (not to mention 2 computers with printers in lobby), the in room desk area, easy chair, hairdryer & coffeemaker, continental breakfast, free underground parking -- very nice. Great selection of free TV channels.
The only sign I saw this was less than an upscale hotel was the way the front desk person had to answer the phone & simultaneously handle walk up guests. The personnel was very friendly but overworked. A great deal in Nashville.
