Top Local Tips for Nashville

Downtown Nashville Nashville seems to be divided into two downtowns - the "real" downtown where the work gets done and the tourist trap downtown. If you know you're in a tourist trap and choose to stay there, that's fine. Know that the drinks will be expensive and you'll see a half-dozen t-shirt shops on every block. And there's the ubiquitous Hard Rock Cafe. Stroll along the park that lines the Cumberland River. Check out any of the clubs. BB King's had great blues band there (on a Tuesday night, no less) and the cover at $5 was cheap. The real downside to this was the number of panhandlers - I think there's a city ordinance that declares there must be one every 20 feet. Give what you can or what you want or just walk away. Pick up a copy of Rage, a free newspaper that lists all the events going on that week.

Antique and Garden Show I went for the garden part of this show. There was basically one booth that actually had garden products and 149 booths of antiques. I was dissapointed I spent two nights in a hotel for one garden booth.

even if you're not a country music fan! I am not the world's biggect country fan but I loved the Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. It is really well laid out and is very interesting. I discovered some singers I really liked were classed as country music stars!! Downtown Nashville is pretty compact and easy to walk around. I would recommend popping into the many bars to listen to some of the local talent - although the bars may look a little dodgy, the folk are so friendly and the music is brilliant.
