No Place Better !

from Dankruse
My wife and I and out two daughters (14 & 8 ) stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites at Peabody Place...Sure you havre to pay ten bucks to park your car, but it's safe, covered, and attached to the hotel....Beale Street is a one minute walk, Gibson guitar factory is a three minute walk, Peabody Hotel is a one minute walk, the Civil rights museum is about a ten minute walk, aAuto zone Baseball park is a three minute walk...it's all here....Memphis was great, the hotel front desk was great, the breakfast was really good...this place has an indoor pool...we had a suite (great to have two rooms and close the kids in their own room.....everything was clean and nice...I would stay there again and tell all my friends to stay there too...

This hotel was wonderful...from the professional staff to the cleanliness. We stayed in a suite with balcony....beautiful views. The only downfall to staying here is although you may pay $150 or more for the room you still have to pay $10 to park in their garage. Nonetheless, we had an incredible weekend and could walk to so many attractions because of its location. Will definetly stay there again when downtown Memphis.

Great Place to enjoy Memphis Flavor

If you truly want to experience Beale Street this is the place to stay. All the action is right outside your back door. For those who want absolute silence stay somewhere else. I was there April 3 - 5, 2005 and I thought it was great. Yes you can hear the bands playing but they stop at a reasonable hour. The hotel was spotless and the staff was extremely friendly. Couldn't ask for a better TRUE Memphis experience.

Would not stay here again

from zoealexandra
We were in Memphis in October of 04 and stayed here due to the location. I would not stay here again. I was very nervous, the rooms were not that clean, the people working there were very nice and very helpful but the hotel is very very loud. We came back from Beale St. at 10pm on a Friday and there were several Memphis police in the lobby I am still not sure if this was normal procedure or if something was going on. Nothing happened while we were there, but we cut our stay there short and moved to the Peabody Hotel. If you want to spend not much more, have a truly amazing trip to Memphis stay at the Peabody. It is well worth the money!

Good place, nice folks

This is a surprisingly good hotel and indeed, as they claim, just half a block off the Beale street area. Front desk folks are friendly and professional. The free breakfast is not very extensive but good enough. The lobby is large, but nice and cosy. My standard room on the 7th floor (good view) had nice and new furniture (the bed was good), the bathroom was OK and there are more than enough TV channels available for people who, for some kind of reason, want to avoid the ribs, beer and music outside. The free business centre, including internet, is sufficient, although the fact that the person before me had forgot to close the S&M pictures he or she downloaded and the fact that the staff do not keep an eye on the centre irritates me (so keep your kids, and maybe yourself, away from that section of the hotel). Anyway, in a city where there a not many hotels that are both in the centre and up to date, this hotel is worth trying out.

Just returned from Memphis - thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff is friendly and hospitable. One of the maintenance men even took us up to the roof top to take pics of the city - fantastic view!! Great location esp. since I had a wedding reception at the Peabody. Didn't even have to walk down the street to get to the Peabody since there was a walkway from the Hampton parking garage through Peabody Place center. Fat City Beignets is just off of the hotel elevator. The hotel's comp. breakfast is just enough to fill you up. We esp. enjoyed the coffee after the nights we had. Beale Street, Fed Ex Forum, Rock & Soul Museum is right there within walking distance. I was concerned about the noise from the other reviews but I couldn't hear anything. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

great location!

from cjski
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites over Labor Day weekend, 9/3 - 9/6. It was great. Beale street was right around the corner, which was exactly what we were looking for when we booked. We stayed in a suite which was very nice. Full kitchen, sofa bed, chair, & table in living room, king size bed in bedroom, & nice sized bath area. The best was the long balcony with entrances from both the living room & bedroom. Unlike what others have written, we had no problem with noise. In fact, my husband commented while we were there how amazing it was that we couldn't hear all of the goings on on Beale from the room. We would stay here again.

I would never stay here again

from MissJasmine
Hotel is situated just off Beale Street perfect location but extremley noisy.
We were very tired after travelling from the UK so we decided to get a bottle of wine and watch a film in bed however there is no bar at the Hotel or room service but we were told that if we walked about 15 mins we could find a store.
We booked a suite and I found the decor very tired and breakfast extremley poor. I only booked this Hotel because of the good reviews I had read but I would never stay here again.
I even think that some of the staff require a staff training course. Open mouthed chewing of gum when speaking to guests is rude and that was the Manageress.

If you love music

from flygirla
If you love music, then this is the hotel for you. Personally, I did not like being up until 3:00am because there was a band playing right outside my window. I had read reviews of this hotel that said it was soundproof, but that was not my experience. I thought the hotel was a little overpriced and did not have the amenities that I am used to- i.e., room service, refrigerator, etc. However, the front desk staff were very cordial and decided to comp the room because I complained about the noise.

My husband and i stayed here for our anniversary. Everything was perfect; nice sized rooms, freindly staff, quiet, relaxing atmosphere, and a great breakfast. Walking distance from anything.

Top Local Tips for Memphis

Traveling to the Convention Center Quick walk to the Cook Convention Center from most of the hotels on Beale Street. Otherwise, a trolley runs to the Convention Center 7 days a week for cheap.

Rent a limo If you have a group call Tennessee limo if you are coming in from the airport. They will get you to your hotel for an inexpensive price, compared to the $30 cab ride...

Memphis Queen Riverboat Make a reservation for the diner cruise aboard the Memphis Queen Riverboat. We had a delighhtful evening cruising the Mississippi River with a lively band, good food, and great crew. Bring a sweater - even in the summer months as it can get chilly on the boat after the sun goes down.
