"We have been owners for 2+ years, and have nothing but wonderful experiences. We book our weeks (yes, we own 2; the 1st experience was so enjoyable, my husband wanted a 2nd; we couldn't wait a whole year to come back!) in advance so we can get the time we want. The service has been nothing less than exceptional, and the staff is always friendly and any issue is addressed quickly. Owning a timeshare with a floating week doesn't mean you wait until the last minute to book your week. We bought there because we love the Smokies and we loved the resort and the cabins. Once the sales ""event"" is over, just book ahead and then enjoy your stay! Can't wait to get back there this year!"

Buyer Warning

Ripped off doesn't cover it! They have changed so many things, where do I start. I own every other year. When it came time to use my timeshare, I booked well in advance, as you have to. But, I got pregnant and the dates of our trip fell during my 8th month. My DR. of course didn't want me 9 hrs away. So I tried to reschedule. They just couldn't do that. So, I lost my week entirely. This year when I went to book, it was aweful. The dates that I wanted couldn't be had . I found that they changed their rating system on the weeks from red, yellow, and green, to peek or off peak. On top of all of that they had now added an exchange rate, which did not exist when I bought. My property taxes have more than doubled, and if you are 1 day into the grace period for your payment they will call incessantly untill it arrives, trying to get you to pay it over the phone.(which there is yet another fee for.) I bought pre-construction while only the owner's lodge was built. From what I see on the internet, what was built was not what I bought. There is no onsite, sit down, nice resteraunt. What they built looks more like condominiums than the log cabins, that their projection pictures showed us. Save yourself some grief put the money that you would've put into this into a vacation fund, and go online and stay here cheap, since it is open to the public, when they told us it would be exclusively owners'.

We bought a sampler travel vacation thru Westgate in Gatlinburg. They brought 2 travel books and said over and over yes we could use those and go anywhere. We kept saying we can go to Kiawah Island SC for the 149-199 rate. We heard yes over and over. We were told we would receive a travel pkg with the books and all the information about ICE travel company. We never got anything. And they kept hanging up on my husband when he tried to fidn out what was happening. Come to find out those travel books are for owners only. We were not told this. We were taken for a ride! Hoping that Mastercard will help us get our money back.
They used diception and lies to get us to buy. They are full of crap--don't buy!!!!!!!!!!! Lawsuit sounds good to me. Tara

I bought timeshare at this resort , and since then have wondered why I did not buy before now, in other words my experiance has been a wonderful experiance, then again I was well informed by the sales rep that I had, she was not at all high pressure, , very nice, and she went out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable.

I stayed at the resort before buying and had a wonderful time, since I bought I have used 2 get aways, 1 to Colorado, and the other to Las Vegas.... , I cannot wait to use the others. BTW I had a Blast!!! No complaints from me, at all!

I cannot believe how some of you are complaining, I sure hate that you did not have a pleasant experiance as well!

Whoever is reading this... IF you have never been I urge you to go, visit, and just see for yourself!!

I have noticed ONLINE there are so many complainers, wow! "A complainer is someone who thinks they know the way, but in reality they cannot even drive the car."

Westgate gets five GOLD stars from me!

Can not get a reservation

I would not know how it is to stay here. I tried for three days to get a reservation and the number I called all ways puts me on hold no matter what time of day it is I am un-able to talk to some one about makeing a reservation, I even e-mailed in a reservation request and here it is two days later and no response. I am beginning to wonder if it was a big mistake in getting in to this time share and seriously considering selling mine..I have owned it 2 years and have not got to stay here yet.

Class Action Suit Needed

I know many people that have experienced breech of contract from promises explicitly made prior to purchase of these timeshares. I am very unhappy and frustrated with these people! In my opinion, a class action suit would get some results. As you know, this resort is now open to the public; but, for some reason, owners just cannot seem to get availability! This timeshare operator has unfair business practices.

Wow, what a rip off the time share with these people has been. I end up paying MORE to stay there than I could if I just got on the phone and shopped agressively. The timeshare has no value. DO NOT go in for their pitch.

STAY AWAY!!! We stayed for a three-day stay and decided to buy a 14-person unit for our family. During the closing, it became clear immediately before the very last set of signatures were written that the unit was a 10-person unit (can you say bait and switch)?!? We backed out of the deal. Still hoping to work out a purchase, we left our deposit check there. We have since decided we knothing to do with these people. We have found it impossible to get our check back. The sales staff were very eager to only make the sle and be done with us.
The closing officer was totally inept and incompetent!! He brought us the wrong paper work twice (once it had the wrong people's names on it)!! When I called yesterday (two months after we were there) to get our check back, he was absolutely nasty and hung up on me (after lying to me that he returned the check when we left!). No one there will return my calls. The salesperson, the Sales manager, the closing officer all ignore my messages. I will be making calls to Central Florida Investments later today. Long stories short - STAY AWAY!!!

I have found that it is impossible to get the dates of your choice unless you call 11 months in advance! That is what they told me when I tried to make reservations! I had to take their left over dates when I called 4 months in advance! They tell you all the advantages when they are selling it to you but it never works that way. They keep adding fees that were not mentioned when you bought the property. And you have to pay them! I guess their moto is "DON"T PAY_ DON"T STAY" I thought it was against the law to sell more than you own! The cabins are very nice and I do like staying there but it is so aggravating to try to set it up and all the fees you have to pay! They do not stand by their word! I would not recommend it to friends!

I have been quite disappointed with Westgate and Interval International, there travel arm. I have had great difficulty making any kind of reservations at Westgate although I have been an owner there since before anything was even built. (My mistake) When you are there, the entire public area is consumed by salespeople and their spiels. I had reservations there last Christmas, Dec. 26 and my father died on Christmas Eve. Who would have imagined that they would be so uncaring as to do nothing about my reservation? They were. They gave me a week on Interval which I have tried for almost a year now to use to no avail. What a disappointment!

Top Local Tips for Gatlinburg

Bike Riding and Hiking Be sure to get to some of "the roads less traveled". We loved biking in Greenbriar (Near Gatlinburg). It is a beautify part of the park. Don't miss Cades Cove. If you bike and have time, or are driving in through the Virginia area to or from your trip to Gatlinburg --- be sure to go to Damascas, VI and ride down the "Virginia Creeper Trail" This was the highlight of our 7 trips to the area.

Traffic Traffic in and out of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was a nightmare. Allow yourself plenty of time, especially if you have dinner or show reservations.

Little Store in The Village at Gatlinburg Hill Creek is a cute store with wonderful handmade gifts. Wonderful owners.
