Me and my husband stayed at Terrace on The Waters, absolutely wonderful. We loved how big the rooms were and clean they were. Even the cleaning lady was very helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The scene off my balcony was excllent we could hear the sounds of the creek below; it was so peaceful. What I really thought was neat was Daisy the duck in diapers in the lobby. We had a restful weekend. Home away from home. Thanks for making my weekend so enjoyable.

My wife and I are from Indiana and love coming down to experience the charm on Gatlinburg as often as we can. We really enjoyed our stay at Terrace On The Water. It is a clean, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay that is right on the main street of Gatlinburg and within walking distance to everything. The owners put in a lot of work beautifing this motel and genuinely care about the people who stay here. If you want a clean room, right on the main drag for a reasonable price, look no farther. I recommend Terrace On The Water.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at Terrace on the Water in Gatlinburg, TN. We also stayed there for two weeks in May 2008. This is the cleanest, friendliest and most pleasant experience we have had the privilege to enjoy. Over our thirty years together, we have made a week's visit to Daytona Beach, FL, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Virginia Beach, VA, Hilton Head Beach, SC, and the Weston in Cincinnati, OH, but we have never enjoyed such hospitality as Terrace on the Water provided us in May and July of this year. I have been visiting Gatlinburg, TN since 1959, including several visits per year during the Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, and Nineties and the fine owners at the Terrace go out of their way to make sure you are surrounded by cleanliness and comfort. The balconies over the Roaring Fork River provide an extra serenity that lets visitors know they have reached a tranquil vacation spot. We honeymooned in Gatlinburg in 1983 and never had the wonderful time we experienced at the Terrace. Anyone who wants to enjoy great hospitality and beauty should make it a point to stay at Terrace on the Water in Gatlinburg, TN.

This is one of the most adorable places we have ever stayed. My husband and two daughters now have a new place to stay. Our room was very large and the cleanliest room we have ever stayed in. The balcony on the water was priceless. We we checked in the staff was so nice and helpful. They were having a new ice machine installed, so at that time they had no ice but Richard told me to guard the office and he went next door to the store and bought me a bag of ice, WHAT!! who does this!! They are Great. We never moved our car the entire 3 days since we could walt to everything. All we can say is that the stay was flawless and we will be back many times to come. I hope this place stays a best kept secret.

Hello there everyone! We had a wonderful and awesome time with "friends" at the Terrace on the Water. Finally a gay only hotel in the Smokies and it's about time. You can flaunt it here sister and let loose. The owners are awesome and they welcome us with open arms. Let the singing of YMCA begin and now that people are starting to be open minded in the South maybe more attractions for people like us will be coming to the Smokies !

I've been going to Gatlinburg since I was a small child. About 30 years ago I found the Terrace and have been staying there ever since. The previous -- I think original -- owners were always nice and friendly and were willing to accept my dog who often travels with me.

Last August I called and found that the Terrace had been sold and spoke with Richard. I explained my situation and particulars of my trip and he was nothing but gracious. He welcomed my dog and has remembered him every time we've gone back. Richard has been gracious and generous with suggestions and reccomendations. I know some have had problems with the "rules" at the terrace, but it is a small, time honored motel and for many people to enjoy their stay in the confines of the Terrace parking lot, some rules are necessary.

I like the Terrace and appreciate the upgrades that have been made over the last two years. The terrace is conveniently located, has charm and ambiance that are rarely found these days and the hosts have treated me with nothing but congeniality and respect.

This wonderful little place is the best in Gatlinburg. We had a great time. We have no complaints what so ever. I am so glad we found it and thanks to all the staff, we will never stay anywhere else. We always stayed at the Creekside before they closed and the Terrace is are new home away from home. If you what VERY CLEAN rooms and GREAT SERVICE, you will love the Terrace.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Terrace. We didn't have a reservation so we had no idea what we were getting into. Boy, we hit the jackpot with a large, very clean room on the creek. It was so quiet which allowed us to sleep in and injoy the morning. We never moved our car for the 3 days we were their. We walked to everything. I hope they get rain because they need it real bad. Thanks for a great stay.

Crazy Man that owns a hotel on the water

My husband and I stayed at Terrace on the Water over the weekend. We didn't have a reservation and loved the way that the motel looked with the balconies over the water and it looking so quaint. We requested a non-smoking room because I am allergic to cigarette smoke. I felt uneasy the whole time that we were there. The owner just gave me an uneasy feeling when we checked in, he wouldn't even let us look at the room before we paid, and I have heard horror stories about hotels putting bogus charges on your card. We tried to pay cash but he told us that if we paid cash for the room that we would have to put a $100.00 deposit on the room on a credit card in addition to paying for the room. When we got into our room we took several digitial pictures of some things that were wrong with the room just in case. When we left the owner met us in the parking lot and took the keys from us. He told us to have a good day. When we got into Cherokee my husband had a message on his cell phone to call the hotel that their was a familiar smell in the room that they needed to discuss with us. My husband returned his call and Richard (the owner) told him that we had smoked in the room that they could smell it. My husband proceeded to tell him that we requested a non-smoking room because we did not smoke. He then told my husband that we had smoked pot in the room and that he was going to charge our card a cleaning fee. My husband told him that we did not smoke anything in the room and that if he charged our card any additional fees that we would take whatever means necessiary to get our money back and to make sure that people knew how they treated people that stayed there. He hung up on my husband. My husband tried to call him back and he would not come to the phone. My husband told the man that answered the phone (we are assuming that it was the other owner) to tell Richard that we would take drug test to prove that we didn't do what he was accusing us of doing and that if it came down to that that we would take legal action against them. He hung up on my husband as well. They had already charged our card an additional cleaning fee. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, The Gatlinburg Police Department, and the Chamber of Commerce. We are going to take whatever actions that we can take to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. We have also contacted our bank and are going to dispute all charges. If we have to get an attorney involved we will. After coming home and reading other reviews of this hotel we would've never stayed there. These owners are out of control and care nothing about people. They just want to rip people off. It is sad that you can't go away for the weekend and enjoy your stay somewhere. I hope that somehow others can learn from what happened to us.
