The Edgewater in a very clean and well kept hotel, a little on the expensive side but still a good place to stay, convenient location

Very pricey for what you get.

We enjoyed our stay, but the hotel is very old and needs updating (peeling wallpaper and very clogged shower head). The bathroom smelled sour. We ask for a new shower curtain and that helped alittle. This hotel was very noisy - doors slamming all night - Do not get a room on the woods side, because of the noisy from kids in the pool. There was only 2 elevators which took forever. We got up early on our last day to get a early start home and the breakfast area was 15 mins late opening.
On the other hand the house cleaning staff was great and the employees at the front desk were very nice and friendly. Another great point was the location and the great parking garage.

Nice location

Excellent location close to Parkway but far enough away for peace and quiet, nice continental breakfast included, children enjoyed pool although the outside portion was a little small, ask for river view, parking garage (vans on bottom level and cars on level two), within walking distance of Aquarium, McDonald's, Wendy's, mini golf, would stay there again. Only complaint would be we requested non-smoking room and it did smell of smoke.

Good hotel at a good value

This was a great hotel for the price. They brought us fresh towels everyday cleaned our room everyday, and the staff was very nice. Plus the pool was great and the jacuzzi was wonderful. We decided to get breakfast after we checked out, and it was free bagels, ceral, coffee, orange juice, muffins, and etc... The mountain side doesn't give you much of a view, but it does give you privacy & it costs less. The room was clean even though the hotel is a little older style. Plus this hotel is in walking distance of almost everything. This was not a fancy high-priced hotel, but it was definately money well spent.

Highly Recommend

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year at the Edgewater. Total we had 6 rooms. There were no problems with any of the rooms. Those of us who stayed on the 8th floor enjoyed beautiful views and fireplaces; the rest of the group who stayed on the 5th floor also had great views, but no fireplaces. The maids went out of their way to make sure we had plenty of towels, coffee, whatever we needed. (Traveling with so many we were bound to leave something behind, we did. The next day they had our "left-behinds" in the mail for us)

The rooms were beautifully decorated. The kids all loved the indoor pool with the waterfall. The hot tubs were especially nice for the adults. The only drawback we found was the thermostat on the heaters were pretty much all or nothing.

Traveling with older family members and children the location was perfect. We go to Gatlinburg at least once or twice each year. This was our 1st time to stay at the Edgewater, rest assured, it will NOT be our last!!!

My family looks forward to staying with them again!!

Needs Updated Really Bad!!!!!

from christy31
Years ago this place used to be one of the best places to stay. What Happened? The Serve is awful and rooms have gone to the dogs and honestly I would not let my dog sleep in dirt and smelling like those rooms. It is a total shame that something has not been done a long time ago. Why have they not updated the place? Being an older hotel they should have and they need staff that cares but instead the staff walks around looking like they are half asleep on the job. My husband used to stay here as a child with his family but he could not believe how run down this place has become. Hotel needs new management because the place is overpriced and too many other problems to name. Outside of hotel looks nice but it is a trap!

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks from the street are decieving! Musty, dirty, sheets and blankets looked like they had not been changed in quite a while. Went to car and brought up blankets to sleep on. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Noticed Fire Alarm was damaged and had not been repaired.

Clean and Convenient

We've only stayed at the Edgewater once, but our visit was a pleasant one. We opted for a deluxe room on the top floor that contained two beds, a fireplace, a mini fridge, and a coffeemaker. The furnishings were a step above the usual hotel decor, and the view of downtown from our room was outstanding. Our only complaints were that the balcony was too small; there was barely room for two chairs and a small end table; and the glass elevator was filthy. However, the room was clean and comfortable, and the Edgewater's location in the middle of town can't be beat. The combination indoor-outdoor pool and jacuzzi were a hit with our children. We'll stay here again.

Nice Hotel Great View

After driving 12 hours it was nice to be able to check in and relax. The clerk at the desk was very polite. Our room was overlooking the river and the town just like I requested. The breakfast buffet was not that good. But overall the hotel was very good. We'll be back.

We will be back!

My boyfriend and I have been to the Edgewater numerous times over the past few years. We really like it. It is not a super fancy place, but it is clean and reasonably priced, and those are the most important things to me. Also, if you have ever been to Gatlinburg you know how hard it is to park. If you stay at the Edgewater there is a parking garage and you can walk to everything in Gatlinburg. If you go, I suggest getting a room overlooking the river. Also, rooms on the top floor have gas log fireplaces...very nice for a night in the mountains!

WOnderful Experience

from ebitner
In October of 2003 (Halloween Weekend) we wanted to take one of those so-called "mini vacations" during our kids fall break from school. As I am a member of H.R.C.A. (Honda Riders Club of America) I thought I would take advantqage of one of their many benefits and explore the discounted rate(s) they offer at many of the hotels in Gatlinburg.
Since the Edgewater was so close to everything we opted to make reservations there. I must admit I was a little skepticle about what kind of service I would get at a discount but I was very pleasently surprised. The room was very clean to start and the house keeping crew made sure it was kept that way. We got a city view room and in October this made for a wonderful view when stepping onto the balcony. The pool was cool also. They have a pool (one) that is an indoor/outdoor meaning that you can enter the pool from indoors or outdoors and by swimming under a seperation wall you have access to the otherside. It made for a nice experience enjoying the heated pool from outside yet being able to go inside and enjoy the beauty of a waterfall just above the pool. The front desk was always very helpful and curteous. Although parking was a bit tricky in the garage I found it to be nice to park out of the weather so it was worth a little extra effort. So, if you want to take a trip to Gatlinburg don't leave out the idea of the Edgewater for a stay. Have a nice trip and be blessed.

Top Local Tips for Gatlinburg

Hard Rock Cafe Don't eat there unless you like loud rock music and mediocre food.

Legends Don't eat there......they have roaches

You've got to try Blaine's Bar and Grill Blaine's is easy to miss, but once you go inside the door and up the stairs you will see what you almost missed. Blaine's is right next to Bubba Gump's Shrimp. It is on the second and third floor of the building and has balconies on both floors that you can eat on. We loved it.
