from A TripAdvisor MemberA good place to stay
from gazzamuppetRoom aseemed little on the small side but very well appointed. Clean and well decorated.
Balcony overlooking the stream.
Nice grounds and picnic / barbecue area.
Indoor pool and tub and outdoor pool.
Friendly staff.
Little novelties such as the cheese and wine and milk and cookies are nice touches.
My only (minor) complaint was I thought the breakfasts were a bit on the stingy side - 1 bread/cake item, 1 cereal, 1 small juice and an orange.
Even with this, I would recommend this as a very nice and well run hotel.
Excellent value for money.
OKAY ONLY
from IndianaKrisI had read so many great reviews on this place that I was excited to get a room. WE were honestly a bit disappointed. The room was fairly clean..but there were some crumbs and hair and a washcloth that was dark..do not know if it was clean and stained or not clean. THE next cleaning was MUCH BETTER. THE reception treats are just handed out to you on a plate with the amount already decided for you. And there is a TIP jar there. YOU have to stand in line at the counter to get the wine and cheese, cookies and milk and the breakfast. The breakfast is just one choice of pastry, etc, one choice of cereal and one piece of fruit plus juice in tiny cups and coffee.
NONE of the staff was overly friendly...except the man doing the night-time receptions.
ROOM was a nice size and had nice balcony over creek...but windows do not open and door has no screen...so in order to enjoy the sound of the stream...you have to OPEN THE DOOR and let bugs in.
OUTSIDE grounds were not cleaned. THERE was a wad of hair outside our door the entire time of our stay.
THE location is awful. IT is on the opposite end of strip for the best shops and restaurants and it is very hard to get in and out of the hotel on to the street. YOU cannot see around the curve. YOU have to turn away from the strip and then find a place to turn around again to head back to the main part of the strip.
THE creek is the biggest asset to this hotel. THE pool is really nice. SO there are some nice things about this hotel. BUT you need to think about the location and be aware of some of the downside too.
I would stay here again if necessary...but will probably choose a place closer to town.
STAFF needs to work on being friendlier, rooms and grounds a little cleaner....and it would also help to NOT ALLOW the bird free run of the office. MY daughter was scared to death to go to office and see that bird.
SO..this place is okay....but not quite what I expected.
Very nice grounds and accommodations
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe were quite surprised at the accommodations in the room. There was a huge L-shaped counter cabinet (storage underneath) with a sink at one end and it wrapped around with a bar sink and refrigerator at the other end (fully mirrored all around). The room was large, exceptionally clean, well appointed and well maintained. There was a king size bed, as well as a lg. table with 2 wing backed chairs (at picture window), tv unit, dresser & N/S's. The balcony was perfect, as it look right over the rushing stream below and made our "quite time" reading enjoyable.
The grounds were exceptional...very well maintained, lovely and the pool was great!
The only negative was.....the continental breakfast. It was held in the Snack bar bldg. by the pool. You did not serve yourself as most of us are accustomed in doing. The personnel filled your order and you were limited to how much you could get. Otherwise, the Inn had Comp. wine & cheese served at 5PM and Comp. cookies & milk at 8PM.
Would I stay again at this facility.....in a New York minute!!. I think we would rent the log cabin next to our room (bldg.) the next time. We loved the wooded grounds as the piece of ambiance is gave you of the mts.
Oh, Zoder's Inn is just south of red light #3. There is a trolley stop to town, right across the street from Zoder's. Take the Purple trolley, it will let you off at the Aquarium at red light #5....and you pick it up again at the Aquarium - it will let you off in front of Zoder's.
Like Zoders Inn
from A TripAdvisor MemberGatlinburg and the park. The room was average, we liked the steam that flowed past our room. We would go back to Zoders when we visit the Smoky Mountains again.
Top Local Tips for Gatlinburg
Great ways to eat cheap in good restaurants while in Gatlinburg The Best Italian Restaurant (total hole in the wall in Elk's plaza) is wonderful. To make the meal a little cheaper, get a basket of garlic rolls and an appetizer. They're big enough to be a meal! Also, there's The Smoky Mountain Brewery. Order the pretzels and cheese dip. That's a meal in its own right.
Off season has its advantages. Being in Gatlinburg when the roads are not crowded at all and there is no line at the restaurants is soooo nice! We hiked one of the national park trails and had it all to ourselves. We drove from there to Cades Cove to watch the sunset over the valley and again encountered few people. During the summer its bumper to bumper everywhere. This was early March and the weather was pleasant with daffodils blooming and trees budding and we enjoyed the serenity of the leafless landscape. As we left a cheerleading and dance convention came in and things quickly changed in downtown Gatlinburg - but probably not much in the mountains.
Over rated Dining and Attractions Don't eat at the Great American Buffet in Pigeon Forge. Save your money and don't go to the Mysterious Mansion, wasn't worth the $50.00 we spent for a family of four. Mass Chaos in queuing lines many of the exhibits did not work.
