Pick your time of year It is beautiful in the Hills anytime. I prefer not to go in the summer because I don't like all the people, especially at Rally time. Too crowded and too expensive. But all other times are times to be there. DON'T miss the Badlands. Very worth it. Don't over estimate how much ground you can cover in one day. You can wear yourself out driving in the Hills. TAKE YOUR TIME. Get out of the car and take a picture, walk around! It's not a race to see how much you can see. Take Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway. Take the Wildlife Loop road and be sure to pick one of the interior roads to drive down. Children (and adults) will love Reptile Gardens...it has an amazing collection of snakes and reptiles. Great for the family. Also Storybook Island and Dinosaur Hill and the Cosmos for the kids. Be sure to take a picnic and stop in one of the many picnic areas. Get off the beaten track, stop, stop, stop. It is so worth it.
