Top Local Tips for Rapid City
National Forest Caves and Petrified Forest Park Visit both Caves in the area and visit the Mammoth display the same day you visit the Wind Cave. You can visit the Crystal Cave the same day you visit Mount Rushmore. The visit to Crazy Horse memorial is not a priority as it's expensive (entry fee & tourist trap) and you cant get close to the monument unless you pay more to take a bus and you cant get off. They view from the highway with binoculars and a telescopic lens camera is suitable for this one. If your driving do the Needles highway as the views are great.The Petrified Forest before Deadwood is a good deal and worthwhile. One the same day visit Deadwood and the cemetery where Wild-Bill and Calamaty Jane are buried.
