Top Local Tips for Myrtle Beach

Not for snobs Myrtle Beach is a ticky-tacky beach community; think Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale, not Sannibel Island. The beach is not terribly broad but very clean and uncrowded (when we were there in late May). We were lucky to end up at Serendipity Inn on N 71st Ave -- away from the busy center. There are still high-rise hotels and condos all along the beach, so don't go if that would ruin it for you. The people everywhere were kind and courteous. We would go again.

Carolina Opry I am not a country music fan (living in the Boston area), my wife is. Marriage is about compromise so I agreed to go to the Carolina Opry. Boy was I surprised, they mixed it up with pop music. rock, comedy...the two and a half hour show was fantastic...I urge you to see the show...I was great!
