The Dayton House Resort is one of the cleanest and best operated hotels in the Myrtle Beach S.C. area. There are some negative comments and low ratings here that came from people who either lied or did not follow hotel rules. Some people take their problems or the chip on their shoulders along with them on vacation. Well, whoever they stay with during that time has to deal with it. It's not fair to then turn around and down grade a business, blaming them for something that is actually your problem! I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

Never Again!!

Never Again will my family try to stay at the Dayton House. I had made reservations almost a year in advance and had given them about $800.00 towards my room. The day I arrived the lady at the front desk, who was very rude, said that they were choosing not to rent me a room. When I asked her why she said that she thought I was lying about how many people would be staying in my room. First off If I wanted to lie to them I could have. My entire family was in town and staying at the Breakers (which I highly recommend). I just wanted the Dayton House to know that some of my family might be in and out of the room helping out with my twin infants. When I asked for the GM he was just as rude. He said that bottom line he was just not giving us a room. I went back later that night thinking that the Dayton House might have a different manager on duty to speak with. There was just a bunch of kids working who could do nothing but laugh at the situation and give me a comment card to fill out. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The ammenites that they described were also not all they were cracked up to be.

Horrible Customer Service!!

At check-in, the two attendants both gave me different room rates, and acted like I was bothering them for asking.
I had a late visitor to my room, and a security guard asked them to leave. I went to the front desk to ask if this person could be added to the list of guests staying, and the rep. talked to me like I was crap!! He refused to show me the hotel policy in writing, and proceeded to put me and my 2 kids out of the hotel at 2am!!! I asked him why he was so rude to me, and he said that he is "an a****** because I can be, and I don't care about your d*** kids!!" Beware!!

At this hotel, you have to wash your own dishes in your room!! What is maid service for? There were little hairs in the tub, and there were some stains on the sheets!!! Disgusting!! The guys at the front desk were mean, even though I was very polite to them.
I would rather stay in a cardboard box than come back here!!

We stayed at this resort during the week of the Harley Davidson Bike rally; no realizing what was gone on. We called to the visitor's center on our arrival at M.B. We were directed to Dayton Resort. Had a wonderful stay, staff very friendly and helpful although hotel was busy. We was not sure how long we wanted to stay, but they accommodated us, staying in 1 room 2 nights and moving us to another for final night. The experience of the Harley Bikes made out stay even more enjoyable

To spend a lot of $, or not spend a lot of $, that is the question. Fun and inexpensive: We went to springmaid pier to fish. We had a GREAT time. Not to bad expensive considering we spent the better part of a day. Got to see sharks, ribbon fish, horsehoe crabs, and a whole lotta other fish. Fun day! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fun but hold on to your wallet: We went to Medieval Times.....We had a blast! But we had tickets that had been given to us for free....Now if I would have paid for the tickets...I wouldn't have like it so much. Tickets are VERY expensive. For FREE, it was great. For almost 60 bucks a pop, not lovin' it so much.

Eating Out Especially if you have kids - go to dinner early especially in the summer months because the restaurants get busy quickly and you'll have a long wait at least an hour.
