Top Local Tips for Hilton Head Island

Best public access beach in Hilton Head Folly Field is the best public beach choice in Hilton Head, in my opinion. There is plenty of parking (arrive early though) at $1 an hour, nice boardwalk to the beach, clean easily accessible rest rooms, lifeguards, chair and umbrella rental (a bit pricey at 30/day but when your choice is rent or fry, rent works for me). If you can't find parking at Folly Field (50 spots), then turn around and head back a half block to Dreissen Beach, there are over 200 spots there.

A must do is the dolphin excursion on the Vagabond If someone were to ask us what not to miss when in Hilton Head Island SC it would be the dolphin excursion on the Vagabond. We went on the sunset dolphin excursion. It was one of the most memorable trips for me. There were children of various ages, young couples, middle aged couples, and older couples. Everyone at the end of the trip said the same thing -- that it truly was an enjoyable experience and they were very glad they went. The captain (Devon) was very informative and comical. He really went out of his way to make sure that we not only were informed about dolphins but also the area. We had a wonderful experience when 2 dolphins decided to race with us. They were swimming on the bow and jumping up -- it was truly incredible. I really thought we were going to just see dolphins from afar but they were right there in the wild jumping right next to us just because they wanted to have fun. This has always been the way I wanted to see dolphins.

really nice island getaway breakfast are expensive and so are dinner in most places . im a diet and couldnt refuse going to fuddruckers near the mall . the gas was pretty cheap . good selection of resturants even on bluffton . easy to get a hotel room even in august . so bring the kids , dog and plenty of money for a nice vacation
