Top Local Tips for Columbia

Quantocks If you are staying in or around Bridgwater there are really amazing FREE places to visit such as the lunar-landscaped fossil beach at Kilve with it's huge ammonite fossilsm rock-pools and pebbly beaches and the beautiful Ramscombe woods in the Quantocks, with little brooks running through an open section of forestry - it's great for children (and completely FREE!) You can also get up close and personal with the goats and pet pigs at Huntstile Organic Farm in Goathurst - check out the open days, it's lovely.

Walking in the Quantocks Huntstile Farm is situated in the foothills of the Quantocks, the hills begin at the top of the farm and supply a wealth of choice for walkers. Circular walks from 1 - 4hours long, taling in open fields and farmland to the dappled shade of the forestry with babbling brooks. Breathtaking scenery, masses of wild life including red and roe deer, hares, foxes and badgers - the bird life is teeming. One morning we counted 18 buzzards soaring above and sitting on the ground while a farmer was ploughing the land. The Quantock Hills was the first area to be a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
