Our trip to Charleston was for rest and tourism following a strenuous period of our lives. We are 64 [wife] and 69 [husband] years old. The desk staff was courteous and helpful. The room staff was excellent. We took our dog, left her in her cage in the room, and engaged the room service woman to walk her, both days. We paid a small tip for this service. Courteous information on what to see, without sales pitches. Plenty of good parking. No loud people, drunks, thugs, all safe and pleasant. We always stay at La Quinta and just did it again recently at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, same situation 100%.

parking locate a parking garage on your map or internet. $8-10 for all day, the meter readers are vigilant. Don't be shy, ask a shop keeper were to eat lunch or dinner, there are a lot of 'tourist trap' eateries.
Isle of Palms We loved Isle of Palms beach!! and also there small town, we much prefer it over the other beaches in the area!
Beware of Parking Parking in downtown Charleston is expensive-watch out!
