Top Local Tips for Charleston
Hotel savings You can save quite a bit(we saved $160) by staying a few miles from downtown. We were 3 miles from downtown and zipped in each day parked at a garage for 5 bucks). Staying at a downtown hotel without a car limits your ability to see plantations and other activities beyond walking distance from downtown, plus many of the Old houses downtown are spread apart, the Aiken-Rhet house and Nathaniel Russel house are roughly 20 blocks apart.
Military History Charleston has some great attractions that will interest anyone who likes military history. Especially liked the H L Hunley confederate submarine exhibit and touring the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier at Patriots Point.
Weather Original trip was scheduled in mid June until we heard that weather at thta time of year can be extremely hot and humid. First part of May was an excellent choice offering plenty of sunshine was low humidity which makes touring most enjoyable.
